ALL THE WORDS

DISQUE ONE

01. WORLD'S FAIR
(instrumental)
1973 r.stevie moore

02. I JUST WANT TO FEEL YOU
Well if you're feeling sad and you know it's a shame
You've got nobody else but your own self to blame
Come around and see me, I wanna talk to you

I just want to feel you
I just want to touch you
I just want to feel you
(I want to use my hands)

We'll sit upon the sofa and read TV Guide
I get my satisfaction when you're by my side
Cinderella Cheesecake, I wanna look at you

I must be going home now, but if you decide
Well I will get in touch with you, phone mail or wire
Or if you really love me, I wanna visit with you

1977 r.stevie moore

03. THE HOLOCAUST PARADE
Going to destroy myself today
If that's okay
I don't know what's real
What's the deal?
Where am I gonna go?
Going to the holocaust parade

It's time again for me to be evicted
I keep doing more harm than I do good
But I don't know what makes me such a horrible guy

Going to remove myself tonight
If that's alright
I don't know how come
I seem dumb
Who will I ruin next?
Who?
Going to the holocaust parade

1977 r.stevie moore

04. EATING PAPER, DRINKING INK
Imagine, if you will
Eating paper as a snack
Hearty eaters: try a phone book
For dessert: a paper sack

Eating paper for lunch, brunch, breakfast Eating paper
for dinner, supper, breakfast

A library becomes a restaurant
Appetizers is the menu
I like cardboard or plywood
When I'm in the mood for that

Eating paper for lunch, brunch, breakfast
Eating paper for dinner, supper, breakfast

Eating paper
Eating paper drinking ink
Eating paper drinking ink

1981 r.stevie moore

05. CHANTILLY LACE
(J.P. Richardson)
Hello, baaaaby!
Yeah, this is R. Stevie speakin'
Ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, you sweet thing!
Do I what? Will I what?
Oh baby, you knoooow what I like!

Chantilly Lace had a pretty face and a ponytail hangin' down
A wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk
Make the world go 'round
Ain't nothing in the world like a big eyed girl
To make me act so funny, make me spend my money
Make me feel real loose like a long necked goose
Like a--oh baby, that's a-what I like!

What's that, baby?
But... but... but... oh, honey!
Oh baby, you know what I like!

Chantilly Lace had a pretty face and a ponytail hangin' down
A wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk
Make the world go 'round round round
Ain't nothing in the world like a big eyed girl
To make me act so funny, make me spend my money
Make me feel real loose like a long necked goose
Like a--oh baby, that's a-what I like!

What's that, baby?
Pick you up at eight? And don't be late?
But baby, I ain't got no money, honey!
But...oh alright
Oh baby, you know what I like!

06. SHOW BIZ IS DEAD
Music
How much music does it take
(in terms of running time)?
How much longer until even you
Become exploited into a star?
Show biz is dead

Movies
How many films have you seen?
How many do you think I've seen?
(about 3)
Aren't we, after all
All better actors than even Marlon Brando?
Show biz is obsolete

Look at me
I'm singing a song that don't sound like any other
Look at me
I'm telling you to look at me instead of them

Books
How much reading does it take?
How many pages are necessary?
Are you truly inspired?
Are you reading right, are you writing?
Show biz ain't art

Stamps and coins
How much of all of this can we take?
What are you doing right now?
I mean besides listening
I mean for a living?
Show biz is not living
Show biz is dead

Show biz is dead
Show biz is dead
Show biz is dead
Show biz
Kill show biz
Kill show biz

1981 r.stevie moore

07. THE PATH OF JOY
I've been driving around
My truck seems so lost
I should be stopping for gas
But I waste no time
I ignore red lights
There is no one home
Highway patrol don't care
My truck's found its way onto

The path of joy
The path of joy
The path of joy

1981 r.stevie moore

08. PUTTIN' UP THE GROCERIES
Do you wanna see anymore TV?
Would you rather be helping mom and me?

Puttin' up the groceries now
We just got back from Foodtown
There are still three sacks in the Cadillac
Puttin' up the groceries
(if you want dinner, you better give us a hand)

Eight brown bags in all
Stacked against the wall
Roast beef and Pine Sol
Come and help us, y'all

Puttin' up the groceries now
Just got back from Morristown
There is milk and bread and a lettuce head
Puttin' up the groceries now

Careful with the eggs
Where's the chicken legs?
Spot the dog will beg
When he sees the vegetables

Puttin' up the groceries now
I'm about to starve and how
There is nothing left to put on the shelf
Cookin' up the groceries now

1978 r.stevie moore

09. ONE MOORE TIME
Where is my girl?
What in the world is becoming of love today?
It hurts me to think that you're gone
And I feel sorry that everything's wrong
I don't know where to go
With my soul in a hole

One moore time
One moore time

Where is my friend?
Is this the end of another relationship?
It hurts me to think that you're dead
(everybody wants you, everybody wants you)
And I feel sorry it's gone to me head
I don't know where to go
With my mind in a bind

One moore time
One moore time
One moore time

1979 r.stevie moore

10. FORECAST
Will it snow snow snow?
I don't know know know
Will the weather be forever?
You won't know till you
Wake up and see tomorrow

Barometa pressure's down fifty percent
Cause the raindrop index is high
Expect a temperature of eighty below
You can kiss your thermometer bye
Cold front warm front drinking the rain
Till the oceanic bottle is dry

Hurricane betsy is at it again
You could call it rejuvenation
No such thing as a fair sky
Cold showers aren't too much fun
Lightning zaps and thunderclaps
And the stars have eaten the sun

Bob Lobertini has frozen his weinie
And the clouds are gettin too thick
Smoke 'n fog and foke 'n smog
Don't this weatherman kick?
And everytime the day change, try to rearrange
Something tells me I'm gettin sick

Differentia time zone seventy-nine
The air pressure is nearly on ten
Numbers in mud on the radar bud
Yesterday's with us again
High humidity, my stupidity
Perspiration killed five men

Don't go outside
Don't go outside
Don't go outside
Don't go outside
Will the weather be forever?
You won't know till you
Wake up and die tomorrow

1975 r.stevie moore

11. NO TALKING
There's a different kind of sound in the hallway
And everyone's afraid to move
And someone looks at someone, but he cannot say
What is on his mind

No talking
No talking
They put it in the rules today
They won't let us talk
They won't let us walk
They must want us to fade away

If you come up to me with a message
You've got something important to say
You better hold it in or they'll beat you up
Write it on my notebook

No talking
No talking
They put it in the rules today
They won't let us talk
They won't let us walk
They must want us to fade away

1978 r.stevie moore

12. WELCOME TO LONDON
1975 r.stevie moore

13. I WANNA HIT YOU
I wanna love you
Why won't you ever let me love you?
You are wise and you're beautiful to me
I love you

I wanna hold you
I wanna look into your eyes and see them
You are sweet and you're sexual to me
I love you, love you

Pain and misery
When you won't come through the door
What is it for?
I wanna hit you

Pain and misery
You respect my love that way
What can I say?
I wanna hit you

1977 r.stevie moore

14. BLOODY KNUCKLES
Everything is intricate
But being is so empty
I've become dismantled
Green with age and envy
Where did all these cries
Come for from the first?
Giving stimulation
Projecting dying thirst

This knowledge is but vague
This answer is then clear
This safety is not working
You must then reappear
There is no punctuation
There is no chapter two
No appeal of sentence
Yet so much new to do

If you loved me so much
Would I make it worth your while?
I'm smothered by your touch
I am bruised to have your style
In the rarest form of pure
Most common in the leer
My knuckles are still bloody
From wanting to be here

The aroma is still heady
From wanting to be near
My knuckles are still bloody
From wanting to be here
Wanting to be here
Wanting to be here

Aunt Walter has left home
Bobby doesn't remember
Where he left his tractor
Aunt Walter wants attention
I'm losing my patience
Leave me alone, leave me alone
Crayons are melting
Teardrops are ice spinning, spinning
Breath like an alley exhaust fan
(J.P.)

Wanting to be here

1978 szzn. g/jim price/r.stevie moore

15. JUMP OUT IN FRONT OF A CAR
I'm afraid that you won't help me
Crossing the street to go to work
I can't make it by myself, I would
Jump out in front of a car

It would hit me
The pain is certainly much
More than I can stand, man
Every other night I dream
Of dying in the street
Bleeding on the avenue
Where you reside

How the impact crushes me
I imagine pieces of skin and bone
Still alive but, nearly dead I have
Jumped out in front of an
Impala station-wagon

Ow! It has hit me
The pain would certainly be
More than I can stand, man
Every other night I dream
Of dying in the street
Bleeding on the boulevard
On which your mama lives

1978 r.stevie moore

16. TOPIC OF SAME
No one makes much sense anymore
They always wanna do what they can't
And then they faithfully say they can and will
But I don't know why they ain't
It takes a lot to do a lot
And I've gotten good at the game
So why don't we all quit at the topic of same

Now rock 'n' roll's not a bag of tricks
It's a thing just like building ships
You gotta do good, like you know you should
And as time goes by, you can't slip
It takes a yearn to live and learn
You must pull yourself from the shame
Of growing up still trapped in the topic of same

No, I ain't rich 'cause the rest are poor
I'd like to join my similar clublick
But time keeps pushing me on and away
Ain't got to wave to the public
It takes some wrong to sing this song
And that's why you're thinking my name
"Why can't he be less moore for the regula?"

1974 r.stevie moore

17. I HATE PEOPLE
Something bad is happening to me
And it has to do with all of you I see
Such a change I have never knew before
But it seems that I have pushed love out the door

I hate people
I hate people
I hate people
I hate people

In a bad mood, in a good mood
I never know which one to show
You always want what you don't have

I hate people
I hate people
I hate people
I hate people

1978 r.stevie moore

18. HIS LATEST FLAME
(Pomus/Shuman)
A very old friend came by today
'Cause he was telling everyone in town
Of the love that he just found
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

He talked and talked and I heard him say
That she had the longest blackest hair
The prettiest green eyes anywhere
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

Though I smiled the tears inside were a-burnin'
I wished him luck and then he said goodbye
He was gone but still his words kept returnin'
What else was there for me to do but cry

Would you believe that yesterday
This girl was in my arms and swore to me
She'd be mine eternally
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

And Marie's the name of his latest flame
Yeah, Marie's the name of his latest flame
Oh, Marie's the name of his latest flame
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

19. RIGHT PERFUME, WRONG MOUTHWASH
Hey eaux oui, oh!
Hey eaux oui, oh!

Right perfume, wrong mouthwash
There was something wrong with her, I knew it
Right perfume, wrong mouthwash
I could tell, something was wrong with her

She smelled sweet
I sensed her a mile away
When she came close, we kissed with our tongues
And I started choking and vomiting

Right perfume, wrong mouthwash
Her medicine breath penetrated my tastebuds
Destroyed my desire for her
R.P.W.M., I'm sorry

She smelled sweet
I sensed her a mile away
You should have seen her
You wouldn't know she was beautiful
You should have smelled her
Like a flower garden
You wouldn't know
You wouldn't have tasted her, though
Oh my god, like a chemical factory
Where did she get that stuff?

1983 r.stevie moore

20. FOR VINI
(instrumental)
1981 r.stevie moore

DISQUE TWO
01. FIRST-HAND
Did you experience it
Or just hear about it?
Did it happen with you
Or without you?
I wish I knew

There was an event which existed
An occurence that you might know

I know what it's like first-hand
I remember how it is first-hand
Understand/comprehend?

It feels great, cause it is great
It was once great, it always will be

1983 r.stevie moore

02. TEEN ROUTINES
I am getting very tired of the routine of you
Everyone seems to ask me, what's the scoop on you?
I don't know what's going on
Or what I want you to do
You keep doing the same things

You are crazy
You are boring
You are lazy
You're ignoring
All my feelings of affection
It's a dull routine
A teen routine

What will you do when
Your adolescent boyfriends
Break their teen routines?

Try a person who is an adult
Try to get with someone older
And as a result
You never ever think of being
Immature or inconvenient
Everybody notices that
Your behavior is improving
Suddenly you've got your shit together
And you know how to smile

Yes, I am getting very tired of teen routines
Everybody seems to ask me what it means
And I tell 'em

1979 r.stevie moore

03. NEW STRINGS
New strings
New strings
New strings
They ring out like the finest, oo hoo
An intonated dynasty knew
Have you seen what's behind us?

The old ones had deposits of gunk
I beat them hard but they had no sound
The moisture in the air made them rust
They didn't want my fingers around them

The days were passing by without change
My four guitars were growing gray hair
I felt just like the father of sons
But they were worried I did not care for

I purchased 22 different gauges
Now things are getting better once more
Our family has a flat wound feeling
They're singing prettier than before the...

1978 r.stevie moore

04. ONCE AND FOR ALL
I just wanna say, once and for all
That we could get together
And experience a ball

Little bitty babies with
Little bitty minds could not
Conceive of a person like you

Remember yesterday, over at Paul's
He said we should find some love
And in it we should fall

Little bitty babies with
Little bitty minds could not
Conceive of a person like you, and
Little bitty kittens with
Little bitty mittens
Realize what it is i gotta do
I gotta take a break
Gary?

I just gotta see, once and for all
Roger and Dawn and Bill and Red
and Vic and Kack and Hop

1978 r.stevie moore

05. ADULT TREE
(Anderson/Moore)
Seeing you comma being me
How do you say shopping spree?
Let's entwine, ooh touch so divine
Just get me home by suppertime

Loving wife, canine pee
But your adult tree is growing on me
Growing on me

Just a lark, I believe it's just a spark
Good for my soul soul so so bad for my heart
Biding my time, hassling with frozen rhyme
You'll come around when you feel like mine

Is it alright tonight if we stay out of sight?
Is it alright tonight if we stay out of sight?
It'll turn out alright if we don't die of fright

Darling, forever we shall be
Until there's no more time for eternity
And that stormy day, as roses wilt
And the sunlight in your eyes has been...
How do you say...irreflected
The moment that it is shown that our souls could not,
Heaven forbid,
Coalesce...
And you show me that your total cooperation is exhausted:
Get the shit out of here
Now

1974 r.stevie moore/billy anderson

06. PASKETTI

07. MISPLACEMENT
I couldn't find what i was looking for
Cause the employees in the dining area
Had changed the room
What was I to do?
I had my orders to locate you

It didn't matter that it took up time
Cause the personnel director
Says that everybody is cool
As long as I stayed busy, I'd search for you
Where'd they put you?

Misplacement
Where you hiding now?
Misplacement
Have you seen Pow Wow?

Oh what a mess, what a fucked up day
When the assistant manager
Insists I don't deserve a lunch hour
It's so important to the company, so I plea

I can't decide where to look for her
Cause she could be in one of
Hundreds of hiding places
Please sir, give me a break cause I am trying
So hard

Now you see what you are doing to wreck my job?
You give me no choice but to resign
What else can I do cause the money's no good
I'm exhausted

Little girl, you're gonna get it next time
I see you kissing the boss's ass
It's not fair, I was so dedicated to work hard
You blew it for me

1978 r.stevie moore

08. WHY CAN'T I WRITE A HIT
Working hard into the night
Searching for a
Melody that makes sense to
The president of the record company
When will he sign me?

Why can't I write a hit
Why can't I write a hit
Why can't I compose?
Why can't I write a hit
Why can't I write a hit
Am I ineligible for the gold?
It's no use

Here I play, I'm desperate
Searching for a
Catchy lyric that'll spell dollar signs to
The music chairman of the board at Columbia

Why can't I write a hit
Why can't I write a hit
Why can't I compose like those?
Why can't I write a hit
Why can't I write a hit
Am I ineligible for the gold?

Warner Brothers

09. PLAY
Got a rhythm & I don't know what to do with it
Play
Well ok
Got a woman & I don't know what to do with her
Play
Well ok
Got some money & I don't know what to do with it
Pay
Got a record & I don't know what to do with it
Play
Every day

Got a fever & I don't know what to take for it
Ooh
Yeah yeah yeah
But I don't care if I get too hot to be blue
Yes yes yes
I got some money & I don't know what to do with it
I feel funny when I don't know who to sue with it
Ray
Any day

Play guitar, play guitar
Play guitar, play a lead
Play guitar, play guitar

10. U.R. TRUE
U. R. True
You show me what it's like
To be a lover completely
U. R. True
You make me very happy
Just to be a human being
U. R. True
You're everything
A personality could desire
Yes it's true, I love you, I do
I do

U. R. True
My heart begins to burn
When you're sitting beside me
U. R. True
My insecurities seem to vanish
When you're with me
U. R. True
My romantic ambitions
Are rising much higher
Yes it's true, I love you, I do

U. R. True
We know we have to wait
But we're working to make it
U. R. True
We understand the meaning
Of every dedication
U. R. True
We always try hard
To expect the unexpected
Yes it's true, I love you, I do

1980 r.stevie moore

11. BACKBONE BREAK

12. WAYNE, WAYNE (GO AWAY)
I took my love onto the beach
We swam alone until he came
It got so bad I had to tell him

Wayne Wayne, go away
You don't belong here, say
Wayne Wayne, go away

In Nineteen Hundred Seventy-Two
There was a boy much bigger than you
He used to smile and stick out his tongue
Remember he was so very young

I took my love onto the beach
We swam alone out of his reach
It got so deep I had to tell him

His mother never gave him a spank
He was a boy as big as a tank
I shoulda gave him some of my fist
But mama mama wouldn't like this

I took my love onto the beach
We swam alone out of his reach
It got so cold I had to tell him

He had a big black tire to float
It made him look like Jupiter's boat
He usedta say he liked to eat shark
And like a tree, he knew how to bark

I took my love onto the beach
We swam alone out of his reach
It got so dark I had to tell him

I took my love onto the beach
We swam alone out of his reach
It got so wet I had to tell him

1975 r.stevie moore

13. DEBBIE
Debbie, you say we are lovers
And you want no other
So why don't you kiss me?

One day you told me you
Needed someone, how you
Pleaded for me to
Respect you

I can't respect you
I'm sorry, but I just want your body

Open and nude for my fingers
That smell, how it lingers
You should like the pleasure

Reputations have nothing
To do with feeling
Nice and aroused in my bedroom

I can't be friends, 'cause
I'm sorry, but I just want your body
I can't understand
I'm sorry, but I just want to touch you there

Debbie, go on and just
Leave me alone with my hard-on
But think what you're missing

1978 r.stevie moore

14. THE MEETING THAT COULDN'T BE
Uhhhh! Time for me to get up. What time is it anyway? I can't see the clock from where I lay here. And the one across the room I can't focus my eyes on. Where's my glasses? I better stand up and stretch. This is the day that I meet you, for the first time I finally get a chance to meet you. And I must get ready, for it is late, later than I think. Where's my watch? God, I can't find anything! What did I do last night? Everything is lost in the shuffle.

It's a rainy saturday morning
But that does not please me.
I feel solemn and dismal.
First I must put on a pair of pants
But I cannot decide which to wear
I'll try on the black pants
If I could only find them
There they are!
How did they get over there?
I must have left them there without thinking
I'll shake them out and slip them on
But no, the black pants are wrinkled
And there are little white spots on one leg
Can't wear them!
I'll have to remember to fix them up later
I guess I'll just find my jeans
And not worry about dressing up
Can I find the bathroom?
It's so dark!
Where's the sunshine I was promised?
Didn't I pray for a beautiful day last night?
A lot of good that did
There's my watch on the bathroom shelf
How did it get there?

I'm thinking of you
As I finish on the toilet
And then I wet my face
I still don't know which pants I'm gonna wear
Shirts are no problem
For some reason I take care of all my shirts
But I let my pants fall to the floor
And they get totally out of control
There, that feels better with my face washed
That's me in the mirror, huh?
Is that how I look?
I gotta get going
It's already 9:30 and I've got some driving to do
Here in my closet are many memories of
The days when we planned this meeting for today
Hope you're ready for me
Because I've suddenly grown out of sorts
And sometimes I can't help myself
My new life has made me fall behind
In self-responsabilities
And it takes me hours to prepare for anything

There's my glasses, on the desk
They must be cleaned
I put on a Tony Bennett album
And that helps to calm me down
It's hard enough waking up
With this special event coming up
It's cold in here!
Better get dressed
These jeans are filthy!
But they're all I can find
I'll wear that new white shirt
That's hanging in the closet, yeah
Choosing a tie is easy
Suddenly I'm ready.
Guess I'll leave
Is everything turned off?
Maybe I'll leave one light on
I might not be back until late
Got my money, cigarettes, lighter
I better take my driver's license
Where is it??
Goodness gracious
I'm so untogether this morning
I've got so much to think about
What if the car doesn't start?
Do I have your number
In case something were to happen?
Let's see, there it is
I'm surprised I didn't lose that, too
I'm getting a little hungry
But there isn't time for that
I better go before I lose something else
At least it stopped raining
Now how do I get to your building?
I'll just have to stop at a service station
And ask for directions, I guess

As I look up and walk away
I realize that my meeting you is
The best thing that's ever happened to me
I've been waiting for this for a long time
And how hard to believe that today is the day
My car is soaking wet inside
Why did I leave the windows down?
Now my jeans are getting damp
And the car won't start
Come on!
Maybe I'll let it sit for a minute
And I'll pump the gas
I've got my fingers crossed
Now it's starting to rain again
Oh no!
I've got a feeling something's against me
It still won't start
Better roll up the windows & start walking
I'll be drenched by the time I get there
Is this what it takes just to meet you and be happy for once?
Why is this happening to me?
Oh god, it's starting to pour
I gotta turn back
I can't take it any longer
I'll just have to stay here until someone rescues me
Which might never happen
This is ridiculous!
I'm tired of living this way
Might as well take some dope, lots of it
Where did I put the pills?
There it is, and there's your picture
Will I ever see you again?
I better call you and tell you what's going on
No answer, forget it!
I'm just gonna end it all
All these pills will take care of me
I'll just wait a little while
And then, no more problems
I just hope you call me before it's too late

1978 r.stevie moore

15. MAMA WEER ALL CRAZEE NOW
(Holder/Lea)
I don't want to drink my whiskey like you do
I don't need to spend my money but still do
Don't stop now, come on
Another drop now, come on
I wanna lot now, so come on
That's right, that's right

I said mama weer all crazee now
I said mama weer all crazee now
I said mama weer all crazee now

You told me, fool fire water won't hurt me
You tease me, and all my ladies desert me

I don't want to drink my whiskey, but still do
I had enough to fill up "H" Hill's left shoe

I said mama weer all crazee now
I said mama weer all crazee now
I said ma, I said ma, I said ma
I said ma, I said ma, I said ma
I said ma, I said ma, I said ma
I said ma, I said ma, I said ma
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Come on yea, come on, yea

16. I HOPE THAT YOU REMEMBER
I hope that you remember me again
I know that you remember when I said

Everybody's in a total runaround
And I don't know why, oh oh
Everybody's on a roller coaster
That goes up to the sky

I hope that you remember all my songs
I wish that you'd remember
Which are hit singles

Everybody says they're going crazy
But they don't seem to mind, oh oh
Everybody's in a jet airliner
That goes up to the sky

I hope that you remember
I hope that you remember
I hope that you remember
I hope that you remember

Everybody looks at me as if
I were a natural guy, oh oh
Everybody's in an elevator
That goes up to the sky

I hope that you remember us today
I hope that you will love me again
Again
And again

Everybody looks at me as if
I were a natural guy
