I will never forget the day Symphony came into my life. My father, my brother, and I (who was 6 at the time) had decided to take a look inside a local petshop. We approached a cage of eight kittens. Seven of the kittens were entirely black and were very lazy, sleeping kittens. But one kitten was completely white, except for a tiny grey ring atop her head. This kitten was desperate for attention. She was sticking her tiny paws through the openings of the cage and begging us to take her home. We couldn't believe how much the kitten loved to talk. Well, eventually we left the petshop, but for the rest of the day my brother and I begged our father to go back for the kitten, convincing him that it would make the perfect gift for our mom, as she was quitting her job that day. My father finally gave in, and we brought the tiny girl home later that day, and although she didn't get along well with Bowtie, our other cat, at first, they eventually learned to love each other.
I loved growing up with Symphony. She was the little sister I'd wanted ever since my parents brought home that annoying little boy. Symphony loved to play with all of our human toys, and she'd always follow me downstairs to the playroom. I'd ask her which dolls she'd want as her children, and she'd walk up to a few, glance back at me, and meow as she'd made her decision.
At night, Symphony would curl up under the covers with me, and rest her head on the pillow beside mine. She instantly became my best friend, and although that grey ring on her head eventually faded, our friendship continues to grow each day.
Of course, as her name states, Symphony is very musical. Not only does she love to listen when I play classical music on the piano, or when my mom does on the flute, but Symphony sings along with any song that we sing to her. She also LOVES to talk to us. Whenever we say ~anything~ in a sweet voice to her, she'll always reply cheerfully. She even responds well to orders. Every morning since my brother and I were little, my parents would tell Symphony to wake us up. She'd come running into our rooms and meow and lick our faces until we woke up. Unfortunately for me (since she sleeps with me whenever I'm at my dad's house, where she's living now), if she wants me to wake up during the night to pet her, she does every annoying thing possible until I'm awake.
Symphony is also a very emotional cat. If she feels she's being treated unfairly (like when you try to pick her up...she ~hates~ that), she'll crawl under a table or bed, depending on what room she's in, and cry very loudly until you crawl under there and apologize. But she's great to have around when you're upset, because she hates it when we humans cry. She'll curl up with me and lick my tears away until I'm feeling better.
Symphony turned nine-years-old on June 18, 2000. These past nine years with her have been extremely beneficial to my family, but Symphony has impacted me the most. Together, we've made it through the deaths of two other cats, our parents' divorce, and five moves into new homes.

Disclaimer: I am ~not~ supporting pet shops that sell kittens through this page. We bought Symphony from a shop that usually does not sell kittens. A lady brought a litter of kittens to the pet shop, because she couldn't raise them all herself. Pet shops that sell puppies and kittens regularly are bad!
