Stem: Make sure when tightening your stem that you gradually tighten each bolt rather then 1 all the way. Their are also 2 types of stems, thread less which has no shaft, and shafted which does have a shaft.

Cranks: 3 piece are better than 1 piece, 1 piece are heavier, less managable, and not as strong as 3 piece. The difference of the two are 1 piece is a single "S" shaped bar and 3 piece consists of 2 crank arms and a bottom bracket. And if you have 1 piece and hear grinding when you pedal, you may be crushing your bearings.

Lube: I am quite sure its true you should'nt use WD-40 on your bike.

Brake Pads: If you get a new bike or new brake pads you will want to sand them with some fine sand paper or rub them on the cement to scuff them up. They will stop better and you don't have to worry about break in time.

Pedals: If you didn't know 3pc cranks and 1pc's take different size pedals. 3pc measurement is 9/16 and 1pc is 1/2.

Rims: After a lot of riding it may be good to tighten your spoke nipples. All you need is a spoke wrench. Just twist to see if it is loose and tighten just a little.

Cranks: Just to tell your crank and sprocket should always be on the right side of your bike, if you run it on the left side you won't be able to ride forward, you can only go backwards.

Pegs: Don't grind  with aluminum or hollow axles because they will bend, also use a freestyle bike to freestyle and a bmx bike to race.

Cable: If you dirt jump and don't have a gyro then you can pre wined your bars by twisted them 180' in the other direction so you can do all the spinning you want. Or like I do do use brakes at all!

Bars: You can cut your bars if they are to long. By doing this you will be able to spin them easier. All you have to do is take a inch or so on both side, you do the measurement.

Chain: If you have a chain breaker take a link or two off to make it easier to lift up and do manuals or wheelies.

Seat: When you are jumping you should keep your seat some what lower so you don't hit your ass or nuts when you pump or try tricks.

Grips: To take grips off you can use a butter knife to insert into front of grip, then spray some liquid into the grip and pull off, replace with a new grip, to put new grip on use a small amount of liquid and slide back on.

Frame: Make sure after a hard fall or landing you check your frame for any stress marks or cracks cause you never want to crack a frame on a landing.

Bmx Bike: A Bmx bike usualy has a aluminum frame, 36 spoke rims, only back brakes and a padset, these      bikes are made to go fast and jump easier.

Dirt Bikes: Dirt bikes usually have a big tubed chrome-molly frame, some times a gyro, usualy 48 spoked rims, and pegs. These bike are made to take abuse and major jumping

Freestyle Bikes: Freestyle bikes have heavy chrome frames, pegs, gyro,48-spoke rims, haevy durable parts, and is a tuff ass bike.
