 Heat Race - 6th place

I only had 5 laps of practice before the heat race, but it seemed that all the repairs that were made on the car from the accident last month brought the car close to race trim. A few more practice sessions would have been nice, but we arrived late for practice.

I started in 7th position on the inside of row 4. The race went green to checker with no cautions. I swapped positions several times before finally settling for the 6th place finish. The top 7 cars were so tight that a blanket could have been laid of everyone.

Feature Race - DNF (Did Not Finish)

We made a few changes to the car before the feature to tighten up the car. I was starting 12th on the outside of row 6. The first 8 laps would just like the heat race. Everyone was running together in tight pack until lap 8 when the #04 of Bruce Roslin brought out the first caution for a spin in turn 2.

On the ensuing restart a major accident happened coming off of turn 4. From my perspective it looked like the leader, #90 Mike Fulton pushed up off the corner and drove the #88 of Steve Stull into the wall. Steve’s car was heavily damaged and he was taken away in the ambulance (After the race I spoke to Steve. He was okay). The accident clogged up the track but I was able to sneak by through the infield.

After a lengthy cleanup I was now lined up in the 5th position. It looked like I had a good shot at another win, but without warning my motor just shut off. So I coasted to the infield and watched DJ Macri go on to win his 2 race of the season.

All in all it wasn’t that bad of night. At least the car is in one piece. I’m already looking forward to next weekend.

See you at the track.

 My 2 Cents - Roy

The tight 2 X 2 racing both in the heat race and the feature meant that passing would be extremely difficult. Seeing that we were starting 12th in the feature, I was hoping for a top 5 or maybe a top 3 finish.

But after the big accident on the attempted restart, Bryan sat in 5th position. I said to myself, "We can win from here". Then, while still under yellow, Bryan pulled to the infield for no apparent reason. Something broke!

We were the last feature race for the night, and Bryan's fans actually beat him back to our pit. All they wanted to know was what happened? All I could tell them was "something broke" as I didn't know what happened either. We all waited for Bryan's return.

Even in defeat, the fans love to sit and chat with the driver to get the "inside scoop" as fast as possible. Here two fans sit in the 14NJ to see what Bryan's "work space" feels like.
