One Heart's Final Partings!

It saddened her to watch him part,
So very hard to watch him leave.
It broke her heart
And in her grief
She simply bled herself to death;

He walked away without a word
Without realizing his action's consequence
So mean and so absurd.
He just turned his back away
And left her standing there in the cold, November rain;

He did not see her aching soul.
He did not see the bitter tears she cried.
He just stabbed her with words, cold and cruel
Which cut her deep inside
And caused some heavy internal bleeding;

He could not see the endless hours she stood vigil
Nursing him back to health
When he was feverish and ill;

He could not see her crooked, arthritic hands
Which worked endlessly day and nights forever
To make ends meet
To procure a better life for this ungrateful boy
Than the life she ever had
He could not see the love she bore the lad!

Yet in his senseless, rebelious  rage
He decided to turn his back and walk away
Without ever looking back again
In his fury and blind madness
He Lost his only 'true' friend

The years quickly  came and went
And in his grudge he kept his distance
Without a kind spoken word
Or simple letter sent.
Oh, resentment is such a corrupting worm
That eats away your joy and happiness
And leaves you hollow, resentful, bitter
And your very self in two does rent.
Time's a thief
Which steals your youth
And rots your very soul to the core;

In time he lost his boyish charm
As his friends all left him , all alone
Then in his waning youth
He remembered her.
In his lonliness he dialed her number,
Just to hear her warm voice again
Or the warmth of her embrace once more
But, alas, it was too late
He played too cruel with the hands of fate!
He could not reverse the harm
Of those sharp words he cut her with
Out of his life she was gone forever
Without a gentle, kind spoken word!
