The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Imad Ahmed

Hi everyone, this is my Zelda story. Please could you mail me, tell me what you think, and don't worry, I don't mind you hating it.

Chapter 5.

"Navi, Navi, come to me child"

Navi, a beautiful fairy fluttered up to come eye-to-eye with the Deku tree, her eyes glowing with sorrow.

"Sire, I am here," she whispered to him

Navi was a guardian fairy. All guardian fairies are created exactly the same time as their owner, their sole purpose to protect them, advise them and give them some company when they are alone. Some may say that this would be a boring life, but this is not true. It would only be boring and unfulfilling if the fairy had other desires, but they never have any other but to serve.

It is a common misconception that all guardian fairies are female. This is not true, usually they are an opposite sex to their owners, however, there are exceptions. Only the people of the forest have fairies though, for they need some protection from the hidden creatures that may lurk there. In the forest, a person without a fairy was very rare, but unlike some other worlds, there was no prejudice over the different, and a fairyless child was treated like any other, but it would be a lie to say that there was no sorrow for that child.

"Find the child...without a fairy...bring him to me," gasped the Great Deku Tree

"As you wish sire. I will not fail you." Navi sobbed. She brought her body much closer to the tree and whispered softly, "You hang in there, I'll bring him to you. You'll be fine in no time"

Navi was a guardian fairy, created for the Deku tree. She was much older than the other fairies, but this did not matter for fairies never changed their physical state. The natural death of a fairy was to be without a master for about five, if lucky, six days. She knew that if the Deku tree died, she would die soon after. She had to venture out into the village of the Kokiri, and without fail, find the boy without a fairy.
