Welcome to my Kristy Powell page. I first saw Kristy perform in the 1994 USA vs Romania dual meet. She was 14 and performed on bars. That summer she placed second in the all around at the Olympic Festival and 4th all around at the Junior Nationals. Then in 1995 she was a last minute replacement in the McDonalds American Cup. She ended up beating future Olympic Champions Shannon Miller and Amanda Borden and surprising the gymnastics world by winning the cup. Then at the 1995 Olympic Festival she injured her knee and was forced to withdraw from competition for the rest of the year. Then she placed 7th all around at the 1996 US Championships, and was on her way to the Olympic Trials, but a few mistakes in that competition left Kristy off the team. During that time she was living with her mother in Colorodo training with Tom and Lori Forster. This year Kristy began training at Cincinnatti Gymnastics Academy with Mary Lee Tracy.
