Danish Asylum Decision

Erling Vestergaard found the application "åbenbart grundløs" or "manifestly unfounded." According to a letter dated December 23, 1996 from Jorn Andersen of the Royal Danish Embassy, applications of persons coming from certain countries, including the USA, are routinely processed as "manifestly unfounded" and subjected to an accelerated procedure that provides no legal representation or right of appeal. This clearly discriminates on the basis of country of origin, violating Article 3 of the Convention on Refugees and other human rights instruments.
