A Moment in Time

DISCLAIMER is on on the Introduction page.

A month later Betty and Scott were married twice and were on their honeymoon in New York City.

Betty lay in bed next to her husband. The wedding was beautiful and she couldn’t be happier. New York was a wonderful city with so much to see.

Her mind wondered off to the station. No one was in charge if something went wrong. She knew how that felt. She had all the scripts written, so that wasn’t going to be a problem. They were all great with the wedding. Afterwards they danced and opened presents.

Visiting her family in Elkheart was also great. They all loved Scott. He really turned on the charm.

Betty turned over and cuddled up to her husband. He woke up and looked at her with adoring eyes.

"I love you Betty," said Scott.

"I love you too," said Betty. Then he leaned over and kissed her.

Betty and Scott were riding in one of those one horse carriages you can rent. They were riding along in Central Park on their last night in New York. Scott could not believe that Betty was his for the rest of his life. He never thought before meeting her that he could be happy with just one girl. He looked over at her and smiled. She was glowing with happiness and love. She wasn't the only one. Scott was, too, and he knew it.

"I can’t believe this is our last day here. I’ll miss New York, but I’ll be happy to get home and settle down," said Betty, putting her head on his shoulder.

"I’ll miss having you all to myself. I’m selfish when it comes to you," said Scott.

"We’ll always be together, Scott. You can have me whenever you want now that we're married."

"That sounds great to me. I've never been so happy in all my life." He leaned over and kissed her softly on the lips.

"Whoever thought we would ever get married? We are so different and yet so much alike. We've had ups and downs in our relationship, and I was the cause of it all."

"Betty, I think all that brought us closer together. Each day, as you said your hundredth ‘no’ to a date, I wanted and needed you more. When Victor came back my heart broke into two thinking that I had no more chances with you."

"Scott, I think I loved you all that time, but you had hurt me alot when I found out how you lied and cheated to get the station manager job. Somehow I thought that maybe your liking me also was a lie until you told me you loved me."

"I think we were both at fault for all the problems we had. If only we just looked through it and saw how much we loved each other, it would have been easier."

"Yeah, I fell in love with a guy who actually asks a girl if she ever ate a barnacle."

"That just made me more adorable to you."

"I must be crazy or just in love or both."

"I would have to say both. You were crazy enough to marry me, and I hope I can keep you happy about it."

An hour later, Betty and Scott were eating dinner in one of New York’s most famous restaraunts, the Rainbow Room. Betty couldn’t believe the prices. "Scott, are you sure we can afford all of this?"

"Piece of cake. Order whatever you want, and don’t worry about it." Betty still ordered something cheaper then the rest.

"Excuse me, Betty. I'll be right back."

"Sure, Scott." A couple of minutes later he came back and sat down.

"May I have this dance?" said Scott, standing up and taking a little bow. He took her arm and lead her to the dance floor. When they started to dance the music all of a suddenly stopped, and the band played the "Wedding March."

"May we have your attention please? Tonight with us we have two newlyweds spending their last night in New York. Let's give a hand to Mr. And Mrs. Scott Sherwood." There was great applause as the band started playing "At Last". Everyone moved aside as Betty and Scott danced very close in each other’s arms.

"Scott, you arranged for all of this, didn’t you?" whispered Betty in his ear.

Instead of answering, he gently pushed her away and bent down and kissed her passionately.

The next morning, they were heading home. They were very happy and also a little sad about leaving. "Scott, it has been a great time and I couldn’t be any happier then I am now."

"Neither could I, and you're right. I’ve loved every moment. I like your family, too. They were very nice. I can see where you got all your wonderfulness, and your faults."

"My faults?!"
