    New info and Updates

    May 28th, 1998:

  • Just a few days until Kraftwerk's first date in Tokyo!! I would like to make a request that if any of you see any shows to find it in your heart to write a small summary of your experience and send it to me in an e-mail: I would be grateful and it would be put up on the page immediately.

  • Here comes my two sentences of the week.........I listen to local radio station (Z100 in New York) and usually every Monday at 7:20am they have a section called Z-Mail in which they read the listeners responses to their show which were sent by e-mail. Immediately I noticed that they were playing Dentaku in the background and its ALWAYS played during this segment of there show. They never say anything about it so I'm going to send them a Z-Mail (the next time I hear what the address is) talking about it and see what happens!.........By a total stroke of luck I found a copy of the Simpson's episode in which the rich German rich goes "Hurry up with the art thingies I have to get back to Stockholm in time to see Kraftwerk" or something along the line of that- once I can get this microphone to work I will put it up on the page........I got a wonderful CD for my birthday by Omar Santana (not the guitarist) called Hard Hop Tricked Out (available from the excellent Moonshine record label). Its a very fun CD and in the first song (my favorite) he mixes a very tough loud base beat of Boing Boom Tschack which is great to hear and just makes you move. I would recommend it to all of you..........I would also recommend the Kraftwerk tribute album labeled Krafty Mode if you can find it- some of the songs are absolute trash but others are wonderful and its a 2CD album so you should be able to find many of both.

  • Because of many e-mails I received I have set up another web site (no interface yet- just files) which will be full of samples, full MP3's of songs, AU files, killer Kraftwerk fonts, the Kraftwerk Theme for Windows 95 and many other useful and silly Kraftwerk stuff for your computer. Because of this I will be taking off the samples section of this page. The new page will be located at http://members.xoom.com/computerwelt - right now you can download stuff but you will have to search for it a bit.

    May 7th, 1998:

  • I'm totally psyched for the upcoming tour, and while browsing the web I found some pictures of the Warfield Theatre (where Kraftwerk will be playing in SF) and made a new section which will soon host YOUR reviews of each conzert. For this moment all that I have up are INFO and PICTURES of the Warfield show, but soon enough I will have Reviews and all of the other conzerts they are going to play at. When my ticket for SF comes I will upload it too, as I did with the LA show ticket. Come back soon in the next couple of days and you should see many more pages about the conzert.

    May 3rd, 1998:

  • Well, todays my birthday and I got some great presents... Some new stereo components, and best of all 4 Tickets to the San Fran KW show!! It took about an hour of redialing to get through to BASS tickets, but it was worth it!

  • There have been a bunch of sitings of new bootlegs, but its hard to tell which ones are good and anyway good luck finding them. Also Sonar 98 tickets go on sale Saturday May 9th! Other info about that show can be found at www.sonar.es. Also you might start to see some Adds in your favorite local Music magazine (if you live in one of the cities of course). I'm trying to get a little comic strip of Kraftwerk on the page, cynical but funny none the less.

    April 26th, 1998:

  • Sorry about the latest skimp on updates! The upcoming Kraftwerk conzert is totally true, if you do not beleive me check out this ticket a fellow werker scanned in and sent to me:
  • I have to apologize about my last update, apparently my facts were lacking on the Karl Bartos story so someone corrected me. Karl Bartos has changed the name of the group from Elektric Music to Electric Music (note the spelling) since Lothar Manteuffel left. This was done in order to state the different personal setting. Plus don't not buy it just because its not Esperanto, it's still pretty good.

    April 15th, 1998:

  • Unfortunately, many of us who enjoyed Karl Bartos's last CD by Elektric Music were very disappointed by his recent release. All I can say is there are no synths, and its not exactly. Too bad :( In other news, there have been many reports on German and French Television shows that state that Kraftwerk are now recording new material in the studio. I like their 3 new songs OK, but they sure aren't the classics of yester-year: lets hope they put some new life into them while recording!

    April 7nd, 1998:

  • TOUR IS REAL! At least according to www.kraftwerk.com who have updated their web page with some new information at the KONZERT page, they also added a cool little spinning globe map applet that lets you see where they are playing (Its pretty tough to tell though :).

  • HAPPY 51ST BIRTHDAY to Florian Schneider!!! WOW you guys are OOOLLLDDD :).

BASS updates their system weekly on Wednesday at 2:00pm Pacific Time. It is then they will have rock-solid confirmed information on shows available to go on sale that weekend. So a call to their numbers above on Thursday, April 30, 1998 should have the definite information.

    www.ticketmaster.com
Has on-line ordering; they stated tickets will go on sale over the net ONE HOUR AFTER general availability, at 1:00pm Pacific Time. There has been some question as to whether tickets will be available at other Ticketmaster outlets out of region. Ticketmaster Northwest (Seattle, Washington) said they do not do this. They indicate that you can't buy a ticket to an LA event from a Ticketmaster in Chicago (or Seattle). This may be different in other cities, but I doubt it.
    GETTING TICKET AVAILABILITY INFORMATION:
TICKETMASTER updates their system weekly on Thursday at around Noon Pacific Time. It is then they will have rock solid confirmed information on shows available to go on sale that weekend. So a call to their number on Thursday afternoon, April 23, 1998 should have the definite information.

  • The second big news of the day is a tad bit more concrete when it comes to validity.
    Quoted from
    http://www.mtv.com/mtv/news/headlines/980401/story14-1.html:
    4/1/98 18:30 EDT
Pearl Jam, Wyclef, Blues Traveler, Kraftwerk Added To Tibet Show Line-Up
Pearl Jam's camp confirms that the group will join Blues Traveler, Wyclef Jean, German techno pioneers Kraftwerk and others at this year's Tibetan Freedom Concert.
The bands will join previously announced performers Beck, the Beastie Boys, Radiohead and R.E.M. on the line-up for this year's show, slated for Washington, D.C.'s RFK Stadium on June 13 and 14. Beastie Boy and Tibet show driving force Adam Yauch and Sean Lennon (who will also play the concert this year) took to MTV Live on Wednesday to announce details of the third annual event.

    April 1st, 1998:

  • Well, I guess spring breaks over! And boy, I have a lot for you guys. Here it comes:

  • According to the SONAR web site, Kraftwerk are confirmed to play in Barcelona June 18th... KW's Tokyo tickets started to get around yesterday! It seems most of them are already sold in a couple of hours. A pamphlette is also found in a few reseller's window, with the same picture as http://www.kraftwerk.com/konzert.html.

  • It seems that there is a new Kraftwerk 12" bootleg out. I've noticed the following on a saleslist:
    "Kraftwerk: 'Lost tracks' (1983er Original), 12", 98/UK, DJUK20"

  • I do beleive that a new Bootleg has been produced-

  • And if you go to http://mcs.nl/groove/latest.html it Lists this:
Kraftwerk......Concert Classics (CD)- Over 40 mins of live material recorded in the USA 1975.

    March 8th, 1998:

  • Yipes! Talk about not doing too much lately (I've been very sick for the past few days). I'm trying to get a new graphics program for the links's page button to put in the navbot, if anyone knows a good shareware program e-mail me.

  • Some more news about the unconfirmed concert today. The following is posted on http://www.tickets.de/artists/art7.html
Kraftwerk will be performing on the following dates:
    03.06.1998 J-Tokio - Akasaka Blitz
    04.06.1998 J-Tokio - Akasaka Blitz
    07.06.1998 USA-San Francisco, CA - Warfield Theatre
    08.06.1998 USA-Los Angeles, CA - The Palladium
    10.06.1998 USA-Chicago, IL - Riviera Theatre
    11.06.1998 USA-Detroit, MI - State Theatre
    13.06.1998 USA-New York, NY - Hammerstein Ballroom
    25.06.1998 DK-Roskilde - Roskilde Festival, Info www.roskilde-festival.dk

Remember that it is DAY/MONTH/YEAR. I personally will believe it when I see them on stage (they had a great '91 mix tour in the US...cough cough).

  • While I was sick, I watched some TV and saw two references to Kraftwerk. The first was in Beck's "New Pollution" video. First while singing he dresses as different bands like KISS then I see him and four others standing in a row doing pocket calculator which was obviously Kraftwerk which was pretty cool. The second time was even funier. I was watching The Simpsons and remembered that there was a German guy at the who was listening to techno. So I watched it till the end (It was the one where they were fighting over german paintings they stole in WWII...long story). And the american government goes up to the German guy and says his name and the German said something like "Ya ya hurry up with ze painting thingys. I have to get back to Stole to see Kraftwerk perform at 4". It was a total stereotype but funny.

    February 23rd, 1998:

  • Phew, about half way through the updating. I've re-done the first few pages of pictures so they load faster; the links page is nearly finished; going to redo the albums page; and more stuff.

  • I was just listening to "Street Jams: Electric Funk Vol. 1" and it really ticked me off at the amount of Kraftwerk that was stolen. In the first song, you can here 4 computer world beats and a blatent "yes..no..yes..no" sex object rip-off. This wouldn't anger me if the people of today would actually recognize Kraftwerk's contribution to not only electronic music, but also to the hip-hop industry. Perfect example: Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force's "Planet Rock" steals the main synth sound from TEE and uses lyrics from Numbers. This song only cost about $600 to make and sold 645,000 copies or so: which resulted in Kraftwerk filing a lawsuit against the hip-hop group. Which brings me to my next point: does anyone know the exact complaints against the group?? If so: just e-mail me.

    February 19th, 1998:

  • This page hit the 2000 hits mark earlier today, yay! Now I have some HUGE news!!! Read this e-mail everyone in the Kraftwerk mailing list got:
I just found this on the Doepfer Site, thought you might be interested,

    KRAFTWERK World Tour
KRAFTWERK will start in June 98 their world tour. They will visit Tokyo (about 03/06/98, blizz hall), San Francisco (about 07/06/98, war field), Los Angeles (about 09/06/98, Palladium), Detroit (about 11/06/98), New York (about 13/06/98). After that they will come back to Europe (Barcelona, Rosskilde and may be Madrid). The new album will probably be finished before they start the tour. All dates are not yet 100% sure so that we cannot guarantee the informations.
    -END

Wow! But there is something fishy here: a few hours after this e-mail was sent, Doepfer updated their page and took out the Kraftwerk paragraph! Hmm... Maybe we weren't supposed to know yet??

  • On another note you probably noticed the huge renovations on this site!! Hope the new pages are good! Soon to come- links page, new buttons, more stuff :).

    February 17th, 1998:

  • I'm almost up to the 2000 hit count: thanx for coming to my site everyone! I haven't been making too many updates lately because I'm planning a "make over" for this site. The opening screen will no longer be this normal one, instead you will have an option of either low bandwidth or high bandwidth: high bandwidth being heavier on the gfx and low bandwidth more Text.

  • I'm also putting up a new section which will be a whole lot of links to Kraftwerk pages. Hope you're enjoying listening to a fun little MIDI of computer world right now :). On a more Kraftwerk note: I was listening to my Trancewerk Express Volume II album and I noticed something. I do not have the "Sex Object" track, instead I have a Trans-Europe Express song. Also, I have one extra track that isn't stated on the albums documentation. I think this could be a very common problem, has anyone else noticed this on theirs??

    February 13th, 1998:

  • Well, I'm upgrading the page and for starters I'm going to add a Links Section. I'm also going to redo the links at the bottom so that they are more Kraftwerk oriented (I got some cool fonts). And, as you may already know you're listening to one of many new MIDI files which will be different in each section. Have fun!!

    February 12th, 1998:

  • Wow, been a while since the last update sorry. I've been real busy with work and stuff. I have found some totally cool Kraftwerk Bootlegs from Dusseldorf via word of mouth on e-mail. Again, send me some e-mail if you would like to have a chance to get the very limited bootlegs of KARLSRUHE and LINZ. They are both excellent quality and feature some of the good old songs like Ohm Sweet Ohm.

  • Non-KW related: I'm upgrading my computer to fit my musical needs and I'm wondering if anyone who is musically talented (preferably with using a computer/synth/midi etc style) would like to share their music with me and perhaps form an "online" band? As you know, e-mail me :) if you want to say somethin.

  • I would sudgest that everyone go to Robban P's web page right now and check out this guys talent!! Go to the download page and get every mp3 there. This guy is fantastic!

    February 6th, 1998:

  • Does anyone know what the exact month/year of Kraftwerk's last scheduled tour in the US which was "cancelled" about 5/6 years ago?? Also, do you guys have any sudgestions on my site?? I want to add some stuff and I need to know what you want. If you have answers/comments to either of these questions, please e-mail me at andrew48@gti.net. Thanks a lot (PS I also added a link to CDNOW at the bottom of the screen, go there and check out what they got!)

    February 4st, 1998:

  • I found out something very interesting today while I was listening to some of my old albums (non-Kraftwerk albums). I came across Nitzer Ebb's album, That Total Age. While listening to track number 7 (I think) it hit me that the "intro" lyrics to this song are mixed in the Kraftwerk remix albums Schœne Neue Welt and the 1ST DJ Edition. Just listen to track six (the telephone-mix) on either Schoene Neue Welt or the 1ST DJ Edition and compare it to the Nitzer Ebb song: the mix is somewhat better in my opinion :) .

    February 1st, 1998:

  • I finally got a response from a KW fan who knew what kind of instruments they used. Apparently (in the 70's) they were the pioneers of the Mini Moog, I myself have been playing around with an antique Korg synthesizer at school and I'm planing on buying a Korg Prophecy. Does anyone know any good on-line electronic instrument stores?? If so, e-mail me and hook me up!

    January 29th, 1998:

  • Some great news!! One of my Kraftwerk friends have informed me that the Tribal Gathering Live bootleg is out!! It's excellent quality, so great that it actually looks and sounds like a Kraftwerk album!! E-mail me for ordering information!!
  • Important:Go to the ARCHIVES page to see older (and important) news!!
