At Carnival 1975, the G. Russel Waite Award was born.  During Carnival '75 Mr. Waite got his finger caught in the Dunk Tank, badly injuring the finger and starting it all.  The G. Russel Waite award has since been given annually to the person or people who execute the most spectacular 'SCREW-UP' relating to Carnival.  The screw-ups can be from a serious nature (burns, broken bones) to just plain comical.  Keep in mind that no matter who gets the award, no people have ever been killed by Carnival.
