I just wanted to share a little information about myself with all the visitors to my webspace. My name is Colleen. Currently, I reside in Newark, DE, where I attend school full-time. However, I am from Mt. Laurel, NJ, and lived there for almost my entire life. In Newark, I have an apartment with three of my closest friends here at school. The four of us have been living together since we were freshmen living in the dorms.
I am a senior Political Science Education major at the University of Delaware. Go Blue Hens!! This spring, I will be student teaching world history and US History at William Penn High School in New Castle, DE. UD is a pretty good place, the last three years have been great, and so far, this one is looking to compare with it. Come visit!
I am also a sister of Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority. I pledged last spring, with the Alpha Rho pledge class. We are a national service sorority, and the sisterhood is extremely dedicated to assisting the community through community service. Our charity this semester, which we hope to provide a lot of assistance to through fundraising and drives, is Camp Dreamcatcher. Camp Dreamcatcher is a charity that sends children who are infected with of affected by HIV/AIDS to camp for part of the summer free of charge. They're a great organization, and we hope to help them a lot this semester. We also have a new pledge class, the Alpha Sigmas, which will add 47 lovely new ladies to our sisterhood. I am so glad that all of you girls decided to pledge, and I cannot wait until you become sisters!
I graduated from Bishop Eustace Prep, in Pennsauken, in May of 2000. I really enjoyed my four years at Eustace. It was great spending the summer with you guys, I can't believe it was my last summer before I enter the "real world". I miss my friends from home so much, especially the Extension crew. I can't wait for frisbee to start up again next summer, despite the great potential for injuries. (Someone always has to end up on crutches!) As for my friends here at UD, you guys know I love you! And to all the sisters of Gamma Sig, I can't believe this is my last year with all of you. I am going to miss you all so much next year and in the future. You girls are great!
I'm also on the bowling team here at school. The UD Women's team has been working hard, and its finally paid off. This is our fourth season as a team, I helped start the team as a freshman. This October, we finally posted our first victory, at our own tournament, the Blue Hen Open! Congrats girls, we earned it!! When we aren't traveling to tournaments around the country, we are practicing at Pleasant Hill Lanes, in Newport, DE, or bowling in our conference, the EPMIBC conference.
When I am in Jersey, I work as the assistant manager of Ramblewood Swim Club. I have been working there for years now, and I really enjoy it. Stop by and visit us in the summer, we're open to the public. I also teach swimming lessons at Ramblewood, and when I am not there, I work for the Burlington County YMCA. The YMCA sends me to various assorted nursing homes and retirememnt communities where I teach water aerobics and joint effort classes. I also teach swimming lessons at the Y.
At school, I bartend and waitress when I am not doing homework or bowling. I am very busy, and enjoy keeping it that way. I hope that in the future, in addition to teaching, I can continue to bowl, as well as work part-time at a bar to earn some extra money. Currently, I am bartending at the Wellwood Yacht Club, as well as waitressing at the Yellowdog Inn.
I also study music, and perform professionally with the Trenton Festival Choir Orchestra. I play the flute, piccolo, pan flute, soprano, alto, and tenor recorders, the pennywhistle, and the ocarina, as well as a few others. It seems like a lot, but its really not that hard. I do teach lessons, for anyone who wants to learn. Also, I can play a minimal amount of piano.
So, thats pretty much all there is to know about me and my life. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to email me if you would like to know anything else.
