~Weyr~

~ You turn the corner, looking away from the grand veiw of the Benden Weyr Bowl. After walking along seeing many people scurry about making the night's dinner, you come to a cluster of dragon weyrs. Most are empty at the moment, but a little further down you see a green dragon sleeping peacefully on it's huge couch. Next to it is a currently uninhabited weyr, and two rooms are attached to the back of it. You approach, keeping one eye on the dragon at all times. Suddenly, it opens an eye and grumbles a low warning roar. You jump back and almost slam right into a girl of about 15 Turns. She seems about 12 handlengths tall, with sunbleached blonde hair and hazel eyes.~

"Oh! Sorry! So clumsy of me!" she says. "Salith calm down," she says to the green, who seems to obey her somewhat and settles back down. "She gets so grumpy sometimes, oh, excuse my manners, I am Scarlett." she tells you. "I see you have stumbled upon our little home here in the Weyr. I live here with my mother, she is G'lda, rider of green Salith here. She isn't here right now though, if that's why you are here." "Oh no, just...exploring," you say "While I am here, I would love to learn more about you, though." you tell Scarlett.

"Really?" she says, seeming flattered. "Well, I have lived all my life, around the dragons and firelizards, and always have hoped to have my own. But I guess I was always busy helping out the Headwoman doing some odd job or helping to make numbweed (ick!). She always complains that I daydream too much, and one day I will fall right in the pot! I am also a bit clumsy, once I almost dropped a tray of klah all over a bronze rider, but luckily he saw it coming and caught it in time. Sadly I haven't known much of my father R'nal, except that he died when I was very young while fighting thread. Everyone tells me how heroic he was, telling his dragon, brown Tarlith, to fly over a younger blue rider who was about to unexpectedly be hit by an unnaturally large clump of thread.

I am also applying to be a candidate on the hatching sands. I know it will be a lot of hard work , but it will be worth it to finally be on the sands enstead of just watching! That's what that empty spot over there is for." she points to the weyr a little ways off from the greens. It is comfortable looking, with a good sized couch and plenty of clean straw. It seems almost as if it is placed in a perfect spot to receive the first rays of the rising sun.

"Well, thats a bit about me. I don't want to bore you now! I would really appreciate it if you came back to see if I am lucky enough to impress." With that , she walks off to sit on the empty couch and daydream of what she hopes to be. You continue on your exploring, deciding that you will surely come back soon.

Some time later you decide to visit Scarlett again, and wander down the long passageways until you see a green dragon as you had before. But this time, it is not the large green Salith you see but a very young hatchling. Scarlett must have impressed! you think. You are happy not only for her, but at the fact that you will actually get to see a dragon hatchling. You quicken your pace and call out to Scarlett, wishing you hadn't done so as soon as you realize you probably woke up the hatchling. Scarlett rushes out thinking there was danger, but then she notices it is you.

"Oh, hi!" she says. "Oh no, Asiloth dear, there is nothing the matter, go back to sleep," she says to the dragon. "Sorry about that," you mutter. "Oh, it's alright"..suddenly her eyes seem to fade..."Asiloth says she is glad to have a new visitor, she probably won't go back to sleep now." "I have never seen a dragon hatchling," you say in awe as Asiloth gets up and wobbles over to the two of you. "Scratch her eye ridges," she suggests. "She is so sweet, Scarlett," you say as the dragons eyes turn a whirling blue-green and she croons happily. "Oh by the way, now that I am a rider, my name is S'lett," she mentions. "Yes, that's right," you reply. "Well Asiloth needs to be fed soon, so I will have to be going," says S'lett, as Asiloth's head perks up at the mantion of food. "Be sure to come back and see Asiloth when she gets bigger!" she yells as you wave good-bye.

Some time later you are visiting Benden on a trip with your family. After running some errands you decide to take a walk down to the large lake where some weyrling dragons are being washed. As you approach the area you remember your friend S'lett and her young green, Asiloth. As if someone had read your mind, you se S'lett stand up and turn to meet you.

"Hello! Nice to see you after so long!" says S'lett. "Asiloth told me of your coming, she is just finishing drying off right now. It has gotten more difficult to wash her as she has grown so much!" Just then you see a green weyrling come bolting up to the two of you, and agree that she has indeed grown.

Before you have a chance to comment, an alarm is sounded by dragons and you must hurry back to your family to help distribute firestone. You wave a quick good- bye to S'lett and promise to visit again.
