Defense against the Front Kick

Step #1

Uke prepares to attack Nage with a left front kick. Nage ensures proper maiai and begins to lift his hands for defensive action.

Step #2

As Uke strikes at Nage, Nage steps off the line, parrying the strike, then hooking the attacking leg. Nage then executes a backfist toward Uke's face. Nage grabs Uke's right shoulder and steps in sweeping Uke's standing leg.

Step #3

Nage throws Uke to the ground making sure to control his leg.

Step #4

Nage applies a legbar on Uke's leg, (closest leg to his body).

Step #5

Nage drops his center of gravity while tightening the legbar control on Uke.

Note: The use of legbar controls are extremely dangerous and can cause hyper-extension to one's knee! Please practice these technqiues under the direct supervision of properly trained instructors ONLY!
