Q: What's a bed & breakfast (or B&B) inn?
A: It's a charming home-away-from-home that
includes a heavenly breakfast, warm ambiance, hospitable innkeepers,
and the interesting company of other guests.
A refreshing change from the usual hotel/motel monotony, B&Bs offer a
special kind of warm, personal hospitality, not to mention romance,
charm, peacefulness, the chance to meet interesting people from all over
the country — and delicious homemade food that’ll knock your socks off!
B&Bs are also an economical way to travel, unless you opt for a four-or
five-star inn. B&Bs actually got their start a few hundred years ago,
when hotels and inns were few and far between. Wayfarers depended on the
kindness of strangers to put them up for the night.
A B&B’s ambience is always unique. Many operate in beautifully- restored
19th century mansions — each with its own story to tell — that recreate
the flavor of a bygone era. Other popular B&B stays are in rustic old farm
and ranch homes, log cabins, Austrian chalets, plantation homes, rambling
suburban homes — even lighthouses and old cabooses!
Lovingly decorated, B&Bs usually include lots and lots of antiques,
handmade bed quilts, canopy or four-poster beds, Jacuzzi, terry robes,
in-room fireplaces, private baths or shared baths, and a cozy common
living room with fireplace.
