History

November 9th, 1992 was when it began. An institution in music, in radio, was created. They thought they could never be stopped. Unfortunately, they were wrong. The first song (and what would four years later be the last song), Alive by Pearl Jam, would forever be remembered after February 7th, 1997. This radio station was special, though. It wasn't a job to these deejays. It was a way of life. They were simply music lovers who had their chance to be heard on the radio and they were good at it. They always put the listeners first. They felt that they didn't have to give away 2 million dollars to get fans. They were known for giving away 'DRE ice scrapers and Pop Rocks. Trippin' Thursday was a weekly contest where the dj "flew" the DRE jet and whoever was the thirteenth caller got a chance to win some really kickin tickets to something. Preston's Lame Ass Trivia consisted of questions that only really really smart people would know, and whoever got the question correct got some really cool thing from the station. Sonic Sessions were live, intimate concerts held at Sonic Recording Studios in Philly. The bands that played them might have been really big bands, or a 'DRE exclusive band. It didn't matter...it was good music. The morning show with Sarah, Spike, and Vinnie was more like a party than a radio show. I remember one time when Sarah accidently spilled OJ on the console, and people were pissed for days...she thought she was gonna get fired. They didn't hold a grudge, but they couldn't hold back from making fun of her. The 'DRE staff was like a family. And even though they've all gone their separate ways, they haven't forgotten about eachother and their fans.
