Latshaw have quite a history behind them: 13 years in the Asbury Park music scene, countless shows, 5 recordings, two compilation tracks, and one Best Rock Act award. Now they are going to carve out their stake in the future of music.

The trio of Tom Latshaw (bass), Bill Latshaw (guitar), and Craig Otto (drums) have been together since June '95. They recorded 2 CDs and toured extensively in the NJ/NY area. In 1999, they were up for six nominations at the Asbury Park Music Awards and last year they were nominated for another six and walked away with the Best Rock Act award.

Singer Mike Affinito joined Latshaw in October of last year. He had the difficult task of writing lyrics to the many instrumentals that the band wrote during the past year. Mike went to work immediately and by the time of his first show in December, he had written 6 songs. Keeping the momentum going, Latshaw went into the studio in January and recorded 5 tracks. Latshaw is known for their powerful electric material, but they chose to record their most diverse songs.

Although four of the tracks are acoustic, they are subdued in volume only. The power of the band's musicianship is still present. The songs breathe easy and allow for the harmonies of Mike, Bill, and Tom to shine through. A fan described their acoustic music as quiet power, and that is exactly what it is. The only electric song is the blues rock inspired "Not That Fast". This track has a loose feel to it, much different than Latshaw's precise, hard-hitting writing formula.

Latshaw is currently playing acoustic shows locally in support of their new CD.
