Long Jump

The long Jump. What an event. Man tries to defy gravity for a few split seconds before being crashed down into the sand pit. My long jump experience has been a short lived career. With a personal best of 20’ 10”, I feel as though it should be out there even further. The biggest fault lies in the lack of practice. I have great speed down the runway. I come in from about 104’ (8 lefts). The object of the long jump, besides jumping far, is to be tall off of the board. One wants to come down with speed, building upto max. speed and then jumping off the board trying to reach max. height. Then one needs to concentrate on staying tall and getting their feet up parallel to the ground. This happens to be my biggest problem. The fact that I am not tall off the board results in the fact that I am always falling forward. Most important, if you can do all of the above correctly, don’t waste the jump by having your hand drag or arm fall back after landing.
