100 Meter Dash
100 Meter Dash, What more can I say about an event that
is pure speed. This event is nothing but hard work and talent combined.
I can basically sum up my 100 meter experience as follows. So far my
best 100 meters in a Deca has been 11.13. The race goes as follows,
as soon as the gun goes off one needs to get to maximum spped as quickly
as possible. at about 40 meters into the race I concentrate on getting
my hips under me. This is a skill that was taught to me by Coach Tolsma,
a former coach of mine. The beauty of hip tuck, pelvic tilt, or whatever
you would like to call it is that it enables the runner to maintain max.
speed without using the most effort. This in turn allows the runner to
reach that crucial 2nd gear that everyone looks for. For being a former
distance runner, hip tuck has been a secret weapon that I often call upon.
It can be used in many races, but more of that in other events. Now after
getting my hips under me, the only thing left to do is to try and maintain
until after crossing the finish line.
