The 9th Annual |
| Once again there was terrific weather for the annual Bayshore at Pocono event. | |

| This year there was a wide array of cars, and driver experiences, entered in the field totalling 76 cars! Eleven of these were Corvairs, or Corvair powered, and they were: | |

| For the first time in the history of our event we had to turn some people away as the field was full! Some of our regular entrants/friends had to be turned away as a result of this and we're sorry that we had to do this. There were a lot of folks who normally come up the day of the event and register that morning and they were not able to do that this year. | |
| Hopefully this success will continue into next year and beyond and eliminate the last minute registration hassles that we usually encounter at the track in the morning. Early registration both guarantees you that you will be in the field and allows us to group the cars accordingly ahead of time. | ![]() The garage area. |
| Roy and Warren took care of getting the radios and flags out to the corners and prepared the track for the first group. | |
| Special thanks go out to Craig and Maria Griffin for their help in the marketing and planning of the event and hosting several of the Pocono meetings at their home. Unfotunately they were unable to attend the event, but their pre-event efforts helped us during the day. | |
| The tech inspection portion of the event was rather hectic as there were about 74 cars to inspect. Charlie Doerge, our old friends George & Debbie Fetzer, and many other volunteers helped get these cars through this phase. Thanks to all who were not mentioned. | ![]() The endless tech line. |
| Bill & Judy Doerge, Frank Schmitt, Warren Edwards, Roy Buckridge, Cliff Briggs and myself, handled the registration morning madness, coffee & donuts, question answering, and drivers meeting duties. | ![]() Bayshore members at work. |
| It was good to see Glenn Greenwood at the track, although we'd rather listen to his Corv-eight than him (just kiddin'), and we are all looking forward to the video clips he had shot throughout the day. Both Bill and I had 35mm cameras with new rolls of film in them and never even took them out of their cases. | |
| Roy and Cliff Briggs conducted an exhaust tech session at the track while Glenn and I discussed the disadvantages of the random spark plug gapping technique, which was apparently used on my turbo's right bank (.030, .032, & .040), and re-gapped them all to .030. Of course all these repairs were done in the pit lane. | |
| We had 10 Mazda Miata's entered from the DelVal Miata Club, and we thank them for their support of our event. Perhaps we could lend them a hand next August when they also run the North course. | You could visit the Bayshore Corvair web site for some comments, un-official lap times, and photos sometime soon as we get this information and get the site updated. |
| I'd like to thank Cliff for letting me use his tow dolly again this year, and my friend Andy Brice for pulling the car to Pocono again. We broke last years up the Interstate 80 hill speed record of 82 m.p.h. with a half-throttle 90 m.p.h. run. Nuthin' like diesel power, right Warren? | |
| I'm out of time, come to the meeting for more details, and hopefully some video, and watch for a follow up Pocono meeting within the next week. | |
