| 1999 Bayshore At Pocono |
| September 11, 1999 |
Who Attended?
You name it, we had it! From your everyday econo car to full blown race cars.
From the 62 hp Hugo of Dave Benton, to the 600+ hp Busch Grand National cars, once campaigned by Terry Labonte and Ernie Irvine. Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or all wheel drive, front engine, rear engine, or mid engine, carburetted, fuel injected, or turbocharged.
They all came to Pocono International Raceway, to run the north course and take part in the Bayshore Corvair Association's, 8th Annual Bayshore At Pocono.

Bayshore At Pocono, is a low pressure fun event, providing you with the opportunity to improve your driving skills, run some practice laps, or just have fun driving a real race track.
Each driver has the responsibility of having his vehicle inspected before hand by a compitant mechcanic. We run a simple straight forward technical inspection the morning of the event, as a last minute saftey check. But, this requires that all drivers arrive on time, and present their vehiles ready for inspection. Please be on time. A late start, 1 hour, resulted due to late arrivals.
I was timing people on and off during the day. No rhyme or reason behind it, just the people I was interested in seeing how fast they were going.
Timed laps that were consective are displayed as such. When there is a break in the times it means I was timing someone else and then returned to time them again.

In one particular instance I chose to time Kevin Johnson for a long period in his third session. Here are the results, and yes I know some of you were going faster, I just didn't time you at that particular instance.

These are the times I recorded. Yes I know you were stuck in traffic. And yes, you may have gone faster, but these are as recorded. "No brag, just fact".
Here are a few more times on some of the other drivers. Again, these are the people I timed because I was interested in seeing how fast they were going.

A special thank you to Gardella Racing for allowing me to borrow their timing equipment.
Thank you to all the workers, particularly Charlie Doerge, who ran pit out all day, "procuring" of corner workers, and transporting them to and from the flag stations.
I also wanted to spend some time with Brian O'Neill, to look at his NASCAR style Corvair racecar, and to talk about the NECC and Daytona. Sorry Brian, but you know how it goes.
I also wanted to sit and talk with Warren LeVeque. The only time we got a chance to talk was over the radio, as I was relaying Scott's lap times. Warren was working corner station #2, while his son Scott was running.
Here are a few of your comments that have either been sent in, or I have seen on other sites.
I also found out how to "cure" a sore knee. You stand for 12 hours. Believe it or not, my knee feels great!
To all the drivers, THANK YOU for coming and making this event possible. We hope to see you all back here next year.
I invite you all to please send any comments, rebuttals, or replies to me. It is your input that only helps to improve the event.
