Charlie

Charlie was such a special boy ... very gentle, sensitive, and soulful, which made him a perfect therapy dog. He had a tough beginning, given up to a shelter with heartworm, and almost dying from the treatment to cure him. He was very "soft" and while I thought he would be great at obedience due to his desire to please, he was way too sensitive for that and tried to crawl up into my arms whenever I asked him to do something in class. He really did have a strong desire to please, but that came out in his therapy work and love of people.

He was with me for almost four years, and had just celebrated his 10th birthday (with a big party and 16 doggie friends) ten days after he was diagnosed with lymphoma. I know that he touched a lot of lives and is missed by more than just his Mom. When Sadie passed away before him, he mourned her loss terribly. It took quite a while for him to warm up to his new little sister, Scarlett. He joined Sadie and BooBoo at the Bridge after a five-month battle with lymphoma, and left Scarlett behind, missing her big brother.
