Buddy

Buddy was a boy that was born in a shelter in Indiana. Funny the people told us the puppies were Cocker mixes, but as you can see that was far from the truth. I was asked to take Buddy temporarily because he was unadoptable due to having mange and ringworm. The poor boy hardly had any hair. It took several months to clear that up and by the time it was Buddy’s attitude showed he was not going to be able to go to PetSmart for adoption. His Pit attitude had come out. I of course had other dogs in my family but keeping things monitored with Spud he did fairly well with them other than a couple of times when he tore up Suzy and Kirby two other dogs I had. He had his best friend Mally and they were my terrible two. Here is a picture of Mally, I believe she is a Coyote mix. Buddy and Mally were two peas in a pod.

Buddy loved to run and play and was the best of the toy destroyers. I actually thought he had swallowed one of his alligator latex toys. What ended up happening is they went in to get the toy and found his intestines were filled with Lymphosarcoma and that there was no way to help him as his intestines were completely blocked by the cancer. What a shock and what a loss to our family. He was only four years old.

Buddy had so much love in his heart and was a dog that carried a heavy load of guilt for no reason. Even the last day of his life the vet went down to check on him and he had thrown up in his crate, he looked up at her with his soulful eyes and wagged just the tip of his tail as if he had done something wrong. He was so special and I will never know a boy like him. Buddy helped a friend of mine so much in learning what it was like to know the love of a dog. He finally wormed his way into Dave’s heart and gave him the best gift ever. Buddy was a teacher. I will always love my Buddy and treasure the moments we had together.
