Sid was introduced to the wrestling business by Randy Savage. Savage talked Vicious into wrestling while Vicious was attending a football camp in Memphis.

Sid competed in several independents, including the CWF and CWA. Vicious was even managed by Downtown Bruno during his early days in the CWF, the same man who would later manage Vicious in 1992 as Harvey Wippleman.

Vicious finally made his big break in 1989, entering the NWA (later to be known as WCW), wrestling as a member of the Skyscrapers along with Dan Spivey. he group was managed by now WWF referee, Teddy Long.

In late 1989, Vicious underwent surgery to repair a right punctured lung. Vicious would be replaced in the Skyscrapers by Mark Callous, the man who would later defeat Sid in the main event of WrestleMania XIII for the WWF title as "The Undertaker".

Vicious returned to wrestling in March of 1990 as a member of the Four Horsemen, and main evented that year's Halloween Havoc again then World Champion Sting.

Vicious' first stint in WCW ended in 1991 after being defeated by El Gigante in a strecther match at SuperBrawl. Weeks later, he would debut in the WWF as Sid Justice.

Sid made his first major impact in the WWF as the referee of the SummerSlam '91 main event tag match featuring Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior taking on Sgt. Slaughter, Col. Mustafa and General Adnan. Sid would referee the match, and posed along with Hogan at the conclusion after raising Hogan's hand in victory.

Just months later in October, Sid suffered a severe injury to his left arm. Sid would return in January, and shortly afterward turned heel. Sid would go on to wrestle Hulk Hogan in the main event of WrestleMania VIII, and lost by disqualification.

Afterward Vicious was scheduled to work a program with the Ultimate Warrior. However, before the feud took off, Vicious was gone from the WWF. Vicious has since stated that the reason he left was because of disagreements with WWF management. Although Vicious was suspended, he was not released from the WWF.

Vicious returned to WCW in 1993, and formed "The Masters of the Power Bomb" with Vader. Sid was scheduled to wrestle Vader for the WCW title at Starrcade '93 . . . until the infamous dual stabbing incident with Arn Anderson occured.

WCW was on a tour of Europe in late October of 1993. On the night of October 27, 1993 at the Moat House Hotel in Blackburn, England, Vicious and Anderson had a heated conversation in the hotel bar. Later in the evening, Vicious knocked on Anderson's hotel room door and attacked him with part of a chair that was in the room. A pair of scissors were used and the fight was broken up minutes later by several wrestlers. By the time the fight was over, Anderson had been stabbed 20 times to various parts of his body while Sid received four puncture wounds. Vicious underwent exploratory surgery shortly thereafter.

Following the incident, Vicious was fired while Anderson remained with the company.

Sid would re-emerge in the WWF in 1995 as the bodyguard of Shawn Michaels. Problems with "the kliq" caused Sid's career to flounder in the WWF, often losing to the likes of Bob Holly. Sid was scheduled to win the WWF Intercontinental title from Shawn Michaels at 1995's SummerSlam, however the kliq again intervened, and the SummerSlam match was changed to a ladder match pitting Shawn Michaels defending the title again Razor Ramon, now known as Scott Hall.

Sid would suffer yet another injury in December of that year, and was out of action until July of 1996, subbing for the Ultimate Warrior for several house shows. Finally in November of 1996, Sid would go on to win his first world title, defeating Shawn Michaels for the WWF title. Vicious would drop the title back to Michaels in January of 1997 in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamo Dome.

Vicious would re-gain the title defeating Bret Hart in February, and dropped the title at WrestleMania XIII in March to the Undertaker. Injuries prevented Vicious from competing regularly, before finally being released from his WWF contract that year in September.

Vicious had a quiet 1998 before returning to WCW in 1999. Sid seems to be on the verge of capturing the WCW title, which would put Vicious in the company of Buddy Rogers, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash and Randy Savage as men who have held both the WWF and WCW World titles. Does Vicious deserve that kind of honor?
