Shane relaxing in our backyard.
While on vacation at Squam Lake in NH in August 1999, I was thinking of the wonderful rescues that some of the Rescue Groups on the Sibernet had been doing and wish that I could do more to help them out. I got the idea that wouldn't it be nice if the RESCUE GROUPS had a wish list and when someone felt like donating, they could have a list of the RESCUE GROUPS on the Sibernet and what they are wishing for.
I posted to the list and heard from 16 groups across the US who said they would like to be on the list. I have put their names on a rotating list so that when people contact me saying they want to donate, then the next rescue group in line will get a turn.
When I hear from someone wanting to make a donation, I send them an email with the next in line rescue group's info including what they put on their wish list and a cc is sent to the rescue group.
The Siberian Husky Club of Greater Detroit wishes for foster homes.
Here are some of the items the groups requested:
We could use food (we feed Iams, but whatever would be great), leashes, collars, food bowls, Heartguard, Pet Tabs or whatever they feel is appropriate.
Obviously donations always work well for vet care!
Anything you can dig up for these Huskies:
Food (we use what ever we can find, preferred is Annameat), Toys, crates (always crates), water and food dishes, leashes, collars, harnesses, always money, and anything else you can think of...we probably need.
Digital camera (to get pictures of new rescues on the website instantly!) Frontline Heartguard, Sentinal, Interceptor - any of those.
Bags of dog food:
Sensible Choice Adult Chicken
Iams mini-chunks
Eukanuba adult
Royal canin adult medium breed
Pro Plan Adult Chicken
Leashes. Collars (14 to 20 inch, adjustable), Pet ID Tags - generic, with Rescue & our phone number on them
pigs ears (our favorite chew toy),
spay/neuter certificates (SNAP or Friends of Animals).
We could use are the replacement doors for the crates and fencing -- post, 2 x 4 welded mesh or chain link, and concrete.
Gift certificates from N.E. Serum or R.C. Steele are also great!
We also use a lot of bleach, pet shampoo (fresh and clean), paper towels, bathroom rugs (for the crates), and paper for flyers and adoption applications.
Please, if you would like to help these wonderful groups, drop me a line and I will put you in touch with the next group in line.
A couple of the pet stores online have 2 for the price of 1 when ordering dog food - so please lets show them how many people care. Or make a donation in memory of a lost pet. What a great way to make a donation. Thank you for your consideration!
