Conditions bode well, but there is the need for patience, for allowing things to progress as they should. This is no time to attempt to force issues. Progress is a gradual process. With firm commitment to one’s place in the social order—even though it sometimes seems unexciting or unchallenging—this is still the direct and decisive approach to growth. Call upon your inner stamina to persevere in order to progress steadily.

(Q) Should I learn something, or have another work?

(A) This would be contrary to that just indicated. For these are all one. As life itself is one, so is the work one. The work in the present is a growing or a preparation for the next step. For ye are indeed (this is not merely philosophizing) gods in the growth. And as ye apply today, tomorrow’s step is given thee. 1554-6

While storms and trials are necessary in every soul, as we see manifested in nature, only in contentment does growth make manifest. Not contentment to that point of satisfaction, for a satisfied mind or soul ceases to seek. But only in contentment may it receive and give out. In giving does a soul grow, even as a tree, even as a rock, even as a sunset, even as a world grows in its influence upon that about it. So has that force grown that we find manifested in the earth that we worship as constructive influence of God, as to the All-Wise purpose, or as to the Holy Spirit, or as to those influences that make alive in giving, in making itself manifest. So are ye gods in the making, saith He that walked among men as the greater teacher of all experiences and ages. 699-1

There is no standing still. Either one progresses or retards, and one that does not use every means for development and for gaining the better understanding of how to use that in hand is retarding. One that applies self in the manner of the pattern as is set in material only finds same magnified in the spiritual consciousness, see? 900-309

(Q) Has any progress been made in the last two or three incarnations?

(A) There is progress whether ye are going forward or backward! The thing is to move! 3027-2

And unless each soul entity (and this entity especially) makes the world better, that corner or place of the world a little better, a little bit more hopeful, a little bit more patient, showing a little more of brotherly love, a little more of kindness, a little more of long-suffering—by the very words and deeds of the entity, the life is a failure; especially so far as growth is concerned. Though you gain the whole world, how little ye must think of thyself if ye lose the purpose for which the soul entered this particular sojourn! 3420-1

(Q) Is the average fulfillment of the soul’s expectation more or less than fifty percent?

(A) It’s a continuous advancement, so it is more than fifty percent. 5749-14
