When a sudden change of events brings shock and upheaval into the life of the sage, his reaction is to examine himself and his actions, lest he behave in a faithless way. It is the internal self that is at stake, and one must learn to remain calm in the face of the apparent disasters of this world if that self is ever to transcend materiality. |

Be not fainthearted because failure seems to be in thy way, or that self falters—but "how many times shall I forgive, or ask forgiveness—seven times?" "Yea, seventy times seven!" or, "not how I faltered, but did I seek His face again?" 281-7 For many may labor well under prosperous reactions and others well under adverse—but indeed greater is he who may take all, not merely as a part of the experience but using each for the abilities and opportunities for the greater manifestation of the sincerity of its purpose and its ideal. 1731-1 (Q) [993]: In passing through the test that has come with the sign that was promised, has my faith been sufficient? Would appreciate more light regarding same, and how I should act. (A) As has been promised, "My grace is sufficient," and "Take no thought of what ye shall say in the hour of trial or test, for it will be given thee that as is necessary for the renewing of that spirit that makes for the understanding of ‘His Spirit beareth witness with thy spirit.’ " Then, meet each step as is shown thee, remembering that He has promised, "I am with thee always, even unto the end of the world. I will not leave thee comfortless, but will come to thee, and he that takes my cross shall not bear it alone." 262-15 (Q) How can I keep from worrying so much about my wife’s health? (A) Why worry, when ye may pray? Know that the power of thyself is very limited. The power of Creative Force is unlimited. (Q) What qualities must I develop to grow more rapidly spiritually? (A) Patience! 2981-1 Remember, there has been given, "Fear rather him who may destroy body and soul than he who may destroy the body alone." In an hour of trial, when there are influences abroad that would change or mar, or take away that freedom which is the gift of the Creative Forces to man; that man might by his own innate desire be at-one with God, the Father, as was manifested in Jesus, the Christ; there should be the willingness to pattern the life, the emergencies, the exigencies as may arise, much in the way and manner as the Master indicated to each and every soul. According to the pattern of the life, as He gave, one should ever be able to give the evidence of the hope and faith that lies within the individual. 602-7 | |
