Places in England

These are the places I visited in England
when I first arrived

The first place I went to when I arrived here in England was an annual bonfire for the Guy Fawkes Day in November 1998. I went to Hebden Bridge, in the West Yorkshire area, and it was marvelous......such a large fire and fireworks were spectacular. Been there mostly every year since. Will go again this year, Nov. 2006.

Also, in November of 1998 I went to Skipton Castle and a few other places in that immediate area. It was a lovely little market town and enjoyed walking through the castle. You can walk through this medieval castle (room by room) also if you like, without even coming to England, by Clicking Here ......of course, you won't be able to feel the cold, damp stone walls or see the dark, winding stairways...that is a special treat in itself.

In 1999 I went to many places.........

York to see the city, which was beautiful and took their ghost tour at night.

Also, climbed the stairs at York Minster. This church is really large and has beautiful cravings and architecture. The following picture is of my daughter, Jilleyn, and myself when she came to visit in May of 1999

Following is a picture of Castle Howard

This is a very stately home with many acres of land....beautiful gardens and part of the house is opened for the public (the other part the Lord and Lady of the house still live in)....so many rich people in England have to open their homes up for tourists because of the taxes being so high (the admission pays for all their taxes)....In this way, they can live so HIGH and MIGHTY.....looking down at us peasants...giggle.

I also went to Helmsley....which has a lovely castle (in ruins) and an Abbey called Rievaulx. I was CLOWNING AROUND HERE......well, you can see where the knight is sticking the knife......

I also went down south a few times to London. First time with a friend, Dawn, and second time with my daughter, Jilleyn.

Here are a few shots by Buckingham Palace, the London Dungeon, and the Tower Bridge. It was really nice in London except it is like any other big city.....busy and rushing...too many tourists, but the people were very friendly. Still, I was very happy to get back home to the countryside of West Yorkshire.
