Forum Purpose and Bill of Rights for MUNs of the Legions of the Apoclypse

This forum was created by MUNS for the express purpose of the MUNS to create an imaginary person, or as it is more commonly known, a character, watch that character develop, and see what happens to that character's "life" in a make believe scenario. It was not created to provide a means for MUNS to come on the Internet and take all the past and present frustrations that all MUNS experience in the day to day existence of real life living out on other MUNS who come online.
The Forum charter was written by MUNS who have been around AOL as Community Leaders, and/or are active subscribers of AOL for many years. Each one of the MUNS are well versed in the Rules of the Terms of Service that all AOL subscribers agree to when they plop down their $21.95 each month. In addition, all those that contributed to the charter of the LoTA are avid Role Players. They have extensive knowledge of all the races found in RhyDin, and yes, they can recite the history of Rhydin when called upon to do so ~ not that it should make a difference to anyone.
The main objective of the forum of LoTA is to ensure that certain practices that are now rife throughout the Role Playing Game of Rhydin are not seen in the LoTA. We are sure that each person that is reading this part of the forum web page has heard the statement; "That's not good RP". The definition of what is Good RP has been lost on the newer Role Players and the older veteran RPers have been taking advantage of that fact.
LoTA has been created to provide a starting place for the Role Player, you the MUN, to expand yourself, hone your skills as a Role Player, apply a hobby of IRL role playing to online in order to encompass a different venue of the RP experience.

Role Players Bill of Rights

Below is a list of your Bill of Rights as a role player. It is not just for the LoTA but all of AOL as well.

~ You have the right to control your own characters life. ~
What this means is that if your character is in a story line and you wish to end that story line to take your character into another direction, that is your right. Your character is yours, you created it not for the purpose of someone else to enjoy but for you to enjoy. To end a story line, you the MUN, can simply state OOC, in letter form, to those that your character is involved with, that you are ending it. It does not matter what your reasons are. You do not have to state them nor justify your reasons to anyone.

~ You have the right to refuse a story line that you the MUN feel embarrassed about or feel uncomfortable with. ~
There is no joy in embarrassment.
There is no joy in being uncomfortable.
Each of us must deal with the day to day existence of trying to get by the best way we can in the MUN world. As life is not fair in the real world it can be just as unfair in the world that we create as Role Players. This is true. However, that does not mean that we as Role Players create characters for the express purpose of beating up or abusing other Role Players due to the hurts we may have experienced in real life or desires for retribution on those that have harmed us in the real world. We create characters to leave all that behind. We create an imaginary world where the bully gets what is coming to them, where the good guys win and the bad guys finally get theirs or we can be the bad guy and do all the things that we as MUNS would never do in our wildest moments IRL. That sort of activity is perfectly normal and absolutely fine in the RP venue. What is not perfectly fine nor perfectly normal is when someone takes it to an extreme.
~ You have the right to privacy. ~
Yes, you will be meeting people that you will make friends with and hopefully that friendship will extend to outside the Rhydin experience. This is an ideal situation. But, all that is told to you the MUN is not for public knowledge in the Role Play existence. Your private life is just that, your private life. No one has the right to take what you confide in them and use it to humiliate you, degrade you, coerce you into using your character in a manner that makes you feel uncomfortable or use your personal confidences as a means to force you into deleting your character and not returning to Role Playing.
~ You have the right to decide what rules you will play your character by in Role Play online. ~
More simply put, you may take your character into any Role Play medium and enjoy that medium to its fullest. But not at the expense of any other Role Player. Likewise, no other Role Player that follows a different set of rules may force you to conformed to their way of Role Playing.
~You have the right to refuse email that you do not wish to have in your email box. ~
If you as a Role Player decide that you no longer wish to receive mail from any Role Player that can not be held against you. Providing you have notified that person to not send you email again.
~You have the right to TOS. ~
This the most powerful and most useful tool you as the Role Player hold within your hands to ensure that your online experience is a rewarding one. This tool was provided by AOL for AOL subscribers in order for online etiquette to be observed by all other persons who come to AOL and take delight in the services they provide in the form of family entertainment and education. When you bring yourself into the Role Play Game of Rhydin as a character, no matter what sort of character that may be, you have the right to undisturbed Role Play activity. This means that no one has the right to come into a member room or other public room and disrupt the flow of the chat. Role Playing is considered chat by AOL Community Action Team members and is monitored as well as CAT can. Yes, we as Role Players will try to Role Play out of the situation with rules and laws designed to keep such activities down to a minimum. However, as there are some that do not wish to abide by the general rules of the RPG of Rhydin set down long ago, and will for the sake of boredom only set about disrupting the flow of Role Play in rooms that are public you can warn them with a statement of Ignore. Should the problem persist, you have the right to TOS those individuals who persist.

TOS and its Use

That last right each of us has brings up a touchy subject but a necessary one to go over. TOS is not to be used as a means of getting back at a person for something that occurred in a story line. It is rather a means of last resort. If you the Role Player have tried all means of correcting a situation that has gone out of control and are at your limit of your tolerance for such activities you simply must state that to those that are disrupting your enjoyment here on AOL. Well, that may seem a bit hazy to some and to others it may not seem enough due to past horrid experiences they have had the misfortune to run into. So for a guideline please read some of the examples of what is for sure a situation where it is necessary to call on TOS to put a stop to the activities that are distressing to you as a Role Player.

~ This is simple, we all learned this in the sandbox as 5 year olds. It's the "If you can't play nice with someone, don't play with them at all. Take your toys and leave."
The time to use TOS is when its not Role Playing anymore, when it becomes MUN bashing or using the medium of Role Play as a form of abuse and harassment in order to force a person from using AOL. Example: Your character falls in love as that is part of a character living a life in Rhydin. The other MUNs character enjoys this, but soon tires of the story line. Both you and the other MUN have made the agreement to end the story line and how it will end.
Now, you have moved your character on into another story line with another character as a romantic couple. Your characters' ex starts up with Rhydin wide email about both you and your character to escalates into you the MUN and your character having to dodge the IMs and hate email constantly. A MUN does not have the right to continue to pursue a story line with malicious remarks, warping of the actual story line that took place, mass emails of MUN agreements between the two MUNs over what will be going on with that story line. In short using the former story line in order to make your life, not your characters life, but your life online murderous and therefore to keep you from enjoying the Role Play of your characters development.

Activies that Will NOT Be Tolerated in the LoTA

Using MUN knowledge in a story line.
Having two characters and using the knowledge of one character to further the advantage of the other character.
MUN Bashing.
Character non Story line Based bashing.
Mass Emailing Chain Letters. These are the way that porn spammers get your SNs on the mail listings.
Using the mail string to bust up a guild.
Forming a SN that is similar to someone elses, ei: Posing as someone else's character. Example: IIJaguarII and llJaguarll.
Using personal information of a MUN to discredit them as Role Players in an email hate campaign.
Deliberately creating and then placing a character in a guild with the intention of destroying that guild for the sole purpose of out of character issues.
Using MUN bubbles to disrupt the flow of the Role Play.
Using foul and or vulgar language to degrade a MUN.
Using foul and or vulgar language while in Role Play to degrade another character.
Those last two.. A note on them.. If you would not say those sort of words IRL in front of a person of the clergy, your grandparents, or direct it at anyone you would call a friend, then don't use those words here in the LoTA. As for your character using profane, foul, vulgar, or defamatory remarks, if you can not Role Play it out in a more imaginative way other than the use of what is considered sociably unacceptable IRL, then don't do it here until you have learned to be more skillful.
