Answer: We're a group of people, or a core, brought together by carnage. When we started, it was two vocalists in a band thrown together with certain members of Dopeslap (then called Insayne), and a bass player that didn't seem to really know how to play. It was nuts, but we had fun. People have come and gone, and we never really get anything done but carnage. That's all this band will ever be, and the only reason we keep comming back to it is how oddly fun it all is.
Answer: Carnage Core was an idea, not a band, created from a desire to have fun. The original Carnage Core got together and had fun as a band, and that was it, but new people joined and old people left and it wasn't the same anymore. I didn't feel it really embodied the original concept, and it was nothing more than a "Chaos Effect". After I renamed the band, I felt bad because it was like seeing that fun band I used to be in die. I changed the name back, it died anyway, and now it starts again more like the Core of old.
Answer: The symbol used to represent Carnage Core is based on a Japanese character that literally translates into "Celestial".
According to Webser's New Dictionary, Celestial is defined as 1. Pertaining
to the sky or the heavens. 2. Heavenly, divine. Well, that's all well and
good, but Carnage Core just thinks it looks cool, and they refer to it as
"The Core Symbol".
Answer: Just to get things very clear right away,
we're NOT trying to be scary, gothic, spooky, or weird. We're
just doing what we do best, and that's have a good time. Getting all dressed up is part of the
fun. We all had fun as kids dressing up on Halloween and getting our faces
pained at carnivals, so why wouldn't we like doing the same things, now? Besides, it's gives the audiance something more to look at than a bunch of ugly faces on stage.
Answer: Carnage Core is an entertainment rock band. They want to make a show as interesting as possible. One of the many ways the members of Carnage Core makes characters of themselves is by using stage names in place of their real ones. To erase any confusion, Rek is Keith Allen, Letter J is Jason Merril, Ant is Mike Proulx, and Xmas is Chris Holiday.
Answer: The story behind my merry pseudonym is long and messed up, but if you really need an answer, I just like the way it sounds. Letter J's name is Jason, or Jay for short, so "Letter J". Ant got his name from declaring himself king of the ants once. D-Brandon-S comes from Brandon's real band, Dopeslap (DS).
Answer: Going right to the source, I talked to Xmas himself, and he said "God bless everyone that went to any of my Ten-Pin parties. They were awesome, and all the bands I invited to play were awesome, and the crowd was awesome. The reason I can't do that anymore is Ten-Pin requires a rent-a-cop now which makes it way too expensive for me to rent the function room for ballz nastie parties. If I ever get a job, though, you can count on me to bring that back."
Answer: I think people get this idea from the The Core Symbol loosely translating into "heaven" and "divine". Or maybe the
proposed title for their first album "Revelations". Carnage Core is by no
means Christian rock. Not that there's anything wrong with Christian rock
bands, but that's just not what Carnage Core is out to promote.
Answer: Well, I'm not really sure, but it's not Christian rock. While the majority is hard rock sounding, there are also some hip-hop sounds and beats. They also have a slow, mostly accoustic melody called "In Loving Memory".
To further complicate things, they even cover a song by Britney Spears. Then there's the punk influenced "Skool Iz Dum". There's even a 70's sounding porno guitar riff in "Diss". To answer your question, the type of music Carnage Core is depends on what song you're listening to. It's called "Carnage" for a reason.
Answer: They don't even get gigs right now, so any kind of recording is not going to happen.
Answer: You'll have to ask D-Brandon-S. All practices are at his house. His E-mail adress is
Answer: As a group, Carnage Core likes to simply hang out. Each member has his own ideas of fun, including movies, wrestling, driving, video games, comic books, and more.
Answer: No. Xmas said "We do it to point out why we've historically had two singers by showing the differences in style. We're all good friends. We also did those songs because it's a tradition. I've heard LL Cool J started it,
and I've also heard it was Fresh Prince (now known as Will Smith), but two vocalists making fun of each other to music is too
classic to ignore." No matter which vocalist you ask, there are no hard feelings between Xmas and former vocalists. "These days, I think it'd be a blast to do a Diss 4 with John Dope of Dopeslap."
