Rice is a member of the grass family.

Archeological evidence indicates a sophisticated rice cultivation system existed in China and India over 7,000 years ago.

There are 42 rice producing countries in the world, ranging from mountainous Himalayan to lowland delta areas.

Rice is the staple food in Asia, Latin America, parts of Africa, and parts of the Middle East.

Basic RICE types and varieties :

Long Grain - a longer grain native of Indian sub-continent 'Indica' most of the world consume this variety

Basmati - An extra long aromatic grain variety grown in North Indian plains, needs special care and longer time to cultivate. Considered to be the longest and highly qualitative variety.
