Review by Dr. Robert L. Sumner
The Biblical Evangelist

This is probably one of the many books inspired and then spawned by The Prayer of Jabez. If so, we are glad because this is a timely and important study — with a different twist.

While it could be argued that the prayer of Jabez was voiced for him to get something (an enlarged coast, God's blessing upon him, preservation from evil), Hannah's prayer was a plea for something she could receive and give back to God! And that is the thesis of this little book: praying for things that we can give to him.

Gividen is a gifted writer and he will hold your interest from cover to cover. Interspersed with the scriptural truths are homely illustrations that very definitely help drive home to the heart the truths being presented.

Believe me, this book could change your outlook on both prayer and consecration. It is subtitled, Eight Dynamics of Effective Christianity.

Hannah is divided into two sections: Developing Christian Character" and "Demonstrating Christian Character." Each have 5 chapters. Part One relates to Hannah's prayer, humility, brokenness, meekness and desire. Part two deals with her mercy, purity, peace, endurance and surrender. Amont other things, there is a good discussion of the difference between trusting God and tempting God.

You will surely never look at Hannah's prayer in quite the same way after reading this timely, fascinating book. It is in the "Just Folks" character series.

Hannah bears our unconditional receommendation!
