FRONTENAC FLYERS JUNIOR HOCKEY The Flyers have themselves in a whole again early into the season. This year the Flyers started tryouts early and often so players could be picked and ready for the season start, it looked like early into the season this was the right decision. Recently poor first period starts and selfish penalties by some players have put the Flyers in last place. The poor first period starts fall on the coach's responsibility to have the players ready to go at the start of the game. It was very discouraging a week ago to see the Rebels who had played a overtime game the night before then have to get on a bus at eleven am come to North Frontenac Arena and completely dominate the Flyers in the first period. This has been a ongoing problem for several years now it must change if the Flyers are going to compete in this league. The selfish penalty situation is being corrected by the coach's by simply sitting the players that continue to take them. One player taking six minutes in penalties in the first period can't and won't be playing regular shifts. This week the Flyers schedule will be exceptionally tough playing the Jets Saturday night in Amherstview and then playing the Brockville Tikis Sunday afternoon at home. The Tikis have been dominating the Rideau League with two recent wins over Westport which is no easy feat. The Flyers will have to be much improved in their play if they want to compete against this team. Next week I will be able to report on how he alumni game went against the Ottawa Senator old boys, right now have eighteen players digging out their equipment and are ready to show their stuff. Remember the next Flyers game: Sunday October 28th Brockvile Tikis 3.15pm. See you at the arena!!!!!!!
