Libraries
1.)
Question: How are desktop computers and libraries alike? How are they different? In answering these questions you might want to talk about the four major components of a ocmputer: input, storage, processing, and output.
Answer:
Desktop computers are Librarys are alike because they are both very good sources of information. They are different, because a Library is limited to books that it contains. A computer with Internet Access is unlimited. You can find out anything that you need to find out about.
2.)
Question: Describe how your school library makes use of computers.
Answer: Our school library makes use of computers by providing free access to the public. Those of us who don't have our own Personal Computer Systems with internet access, can turn to the library, in times of "need".
3.)
Question: Suppose that you were able to access all of the items in your school library without having to actually go to the library. Instead, you could get library information from your own home or while sitting at your desk in your classroom. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being able to do this?
Answer: There is more of a convienience of having this information first hand, with access at your house. You may not live close to the library, or not have the time to go. But if you're in your house, no matter how close you live to the library, there is a greater convience.
4.)
Question: Suppose that there were no books in your school library. Instead, imagine that the library uses computer CD-ROMs to hold all the information that was previously available in book form. How would this change the way you located the information you need?
Answer: This would change the way you located information, because computer "illiterate" people would be forced to learn how to use the net, even though, most people have already been forced to learn, unwillingly, and unwantedly for some. On the other side of the spectrum however, some people would prefer this method of obtaining information.
