Assignment 4

The Malthusian view is that world population will eventually cause severe shortages of some resources. This is not necessarily true in the world today. There is more than enough resources in the world to feed everyone but the distribution of these resources may be uneven. The population probably won't increase at such a rate that it will cause mutiny and wars to fight for food. We are a civilized society and we can deal with these problems if they occur.

The cornucopian view is that growth in population is good and leads society to a better life. They believe that human ingenuity is the key to solving problems, including those caused by population increases. I believe this to be true also. This is similar to my last statement for the Malthusian view. I believe that the human race is intelligent enough to handle things such as too much population growth by means of birth control and even if the population grew rapidly we could handle it.
