Here is the all the info on the CT Novel project as released by the author of the novel himself.
The Chrono Trigger Novel Project, founded by Wayne, started back in September of 1996. The project started as a simple idea, soon developing into an ongoing venture that would come to evolve and improve as the years went by. Since the time that the project began, there have been many series of halts, changes, new ideas, and new methods to arise, until, eventually, Wayne was forced to start rewriting the novel from the beginning, which occured in October of 2000. With that in mind, the project has just reached its 5th birthday since the initial start.
The very idea of the novel sprouted after Wayne noticed the intense, ambitious, flowing, chained, and varied nature of the story within the game. It was something that a person could follow; the kind of story that made you feel with the characters as the events unfolded. At the same time, there were some loose ends (though not many) and so much that the story could still offer to people whether they were RPG fans or not.
As bonus to those who already know the storyline, the novel will include many extra scenes, dialogues, and events that add to the strength and enjoyment of the story. While most of these are not being revealed, we do know that Crono is now a talker, that there is a bonus preceding first chapter, and that lots of new dialogue will be implemented with the original. More information can be obtained from his site (below), as well as a Demo Chapter of the novel, which is a near-finished form of the actual second chapter of the novel to be.
Today, the novel is moving along steadily, and Wayne is gaining support for the future publication of this novel after obtaining the needed approval from SquareSoft. His website keeps up with the major details and events happening with the novel to date, and he encourages every CT fan to visit there and to tell others about the site. Furthermore, he would like for everyone who visits there to send him an email or fill out something from the site so that he can add your name to his mailing list, which he will use for two main reasons: To inform everyone of instant occurances and updates, and to have a list of all of those in support for the project.
In light of all of this, Square has recently been contacted and is currently looking into the idea. According to the representative with whom Wayne has spoken to, it surprising did not receive the "brickwall treatment" and is being looked into further even as we speak.
Please take a quick look at the site and take some time to get in touch with Wayne about any further questions and comments. Once at the site, there is a Novel Survey offered, which allows you to specifically express your own ideas about the novel. There is also a question of the front page which will deal with various issues as updates and needs arise. Wayne thanks all of the supporters who have already spoken out and hopes that EVERY Chrono Trigger fan will do what they can to help get the Chrono Trigger novel onto shelves for all to enjoy!
