Frequently Asked Questions

In this section, you will find a list of questions and answers that I have dealt with frequetly. Please check the list below if you have a question for me to see if it is already there. If not, you can email me. This will save me a lot of time answering the same email question dozens of times.

Question:

I have the rom version of the game and whenever I go to the domes in the future I can't see inside of the dome. The vision is blocked by grey clouds. How can I get rid of this problem?

Answer:

There are two ways to get rid of these "clouds". First, with a ZSNES Emulator, you can turn of the various background levels using the number keys. I believe 3 will turn off the clouds. Be sure to turn the levels back on when you are finished though. Later on in the game, on Mount Woe, the same problem will occur again. This time, turn off layers 2 and 3 to see the screen in its entirety. The second method of fixing this problem is to reconfigure your screen section in the menu under configure, to match your monitor. Depending on your monitor, the setting that works may vary, so you will need to play with it a bit to get it to work. I recommend this solution over the first, as it improves your graphics for the entire game.

Question:

I have the CT Rom and when I go to enter the password at the Arris Dome, it doesn't work. I am sure that I am holding L & R and then pressing A. What is wrong?

Answer:

The problem is that your emulator doesn't support the pressing of more than two buttons at a time. To fix this, either get a new emulator, or try fixing the L & R keys to the same button and then holding that one button and pressing A. Be sure to fix the keys afterwords though.

Question:

I'm trying to walk around Spekkio's room to get magic, but he keeps saying that I am cheating. What's going on?

Answer:

When you are walking around Spekkio's room, make sure you are going CLOCKWISE, and that you stay tight to the wall. Keep close track of your circles and don't do any more or less than three. Be patient above all.

Question:

How do I get Magus to join my team?

Answer:

After you get off the Blackbird and defeat Dalton, go to Cape, north of the Last Village. Walk to the top of the Cape and you will see a sparkle. Press A on it and Magus will appear. After he finishes talking, you have a choice of either fighting him or not. If you choose not to, when you go to leave, Magus will join your team, but if you do, Magus will be killed, and will never join your team.

Question:

How do I imput the password to save Lucca's mother's legs?

Answer:

Enter the living room and you will see a strange sparkle on the machine. Walk up to it and press A to begin entering the password LARA.

Question:

I can't figure out what Gaspar is referring to when he says "Somebody you know needs help. Find this person fast?" How do I complete this quest, and what or who is he talking about?

Answer:

This topic has been debated by CT fans and masters all over the place. Some think that it is refering to Marle's father and the part in the Rainbow Shell quest, and it is a glitch that it doesn't disappear after you help him. Others think that it refers to a part of the game that was edited out and that it was left in by mistake. Finally some think that it refers to Queen Zeal and the Omen, as after you beat the Omen, this request disappears after the Omen has been defeated. We may never be sure, but whatever this refers to, you can bet that we will probably never know for sure. All you really need to know is that it disappears after the Omen, so if you want it gone, beat the Omen.

Question:

Is it possible to be found innocent in the court trial? If so, how?

Answer:

Yes, you can be found innocent at the trial, however it does not affect the events of the game. Even if you are found innocent, you are still sentenced to jail time, for reasons explained in the game, and they still attempt to execute you. Getting the innocent verdict is more of a little just for fun extra, although some claim that it influences New Game +. Anyways to be found innocent, simply follow these reccomendations:
(1.) Wait for Marle at the candy stand until she is finished.
(2.) Return the little girl's cat to her at the fair.
(3.) Don't eat the old man's lunch.
(4.) After you bang into Marle, talk to her before you go pick up the pendant.
(5.) If you talk to Melchior and he asks you to sell the pendant, say "no".

Question:

My friend says that he has more than one cat. Is that possible or is s/he just bluffing?

Answer:

Yes, you can get more that one cat in the game. In fact, you can get a total of eleven. This makes the Portal/Cat Main Ending much more funny as all you cats go into the portal instead of one. To get more than one cat, you must play and win the 80 silver point game at the Tent of Horrors. The first time you beat it, you should get another cat. The next time, you'll get catfood. Build up your catfood and another cat will appear in you house. This works up till eleven cats. (The eighth cat though will only appear at the end when it is running to the portal with the others. This is just a slight glitch in the game.)

Question:

How do I open the strange doors and black boxes that are "sealed with a mysterious force"?

Answer:

You must wait until you charge up Marle's Pendant before the Mammon Machine in 12 000 BC at Zeal Palace. Go back and open these doors later on in the game after you have done this.
