The Norwegian Forest Cat

There are many different theories about the origin of the Norwegian Forest Cat. The one that gets a bigger consensus is the one that says that the Vickings used cats in their trips as pets and also to catch the rodents.

The Norwegian Forest Cat has been introduced in Finland and all Scandinavia and he has it's evolution, adapting itself to the cold, the snow and the Norwegian forests. As a result a cat with singular characteristics appears in our days.

They have a layer of exterior coat and a undercoat (that they loose in totality in the period of summer), a necklace, the hind legs must be higher than the previous legs. Its straight profile, the firm chin, the tufts in the ears give him a very similar appearance to the lynx. They have a relatively slow development, reaching its maturity between the four and five years of age.

They are great climbers, they like high places, having no difficulty getting down. A particularitity of the Norwegian Forest Cat is to go down in spiral, upside-down.

His adaptation capacity, already related previously, allows them to live in farms as well as in houses with a garden or even apartments.
