COSTUME DIRECTIONS & PATTERNS
How To Make REN FEST Costumes
You Can Be PROUD To Wear!

If you don’t know how to SEW (and don’t have a Sewing Machine),
this page is unlikely to help you much!

Go BACK to the Costume Links or General Costume Tips webpages,
and find something to BUY, instead!

If you DO know how to SEW
(and have a Sewing Machine),
READ ON!

Purchase of
“Renaissance Patterns”
Is NOT necessarily
required!

You may ALREADY HAVE a pattern that
can be used to make a Renaissance costume.

Look through the patterns you have, being alert for
SIMPLE garment patterns.
Then, use “Ren” fabrics, and nudge the patterns
here and there to create something
appropriate to wear to a Ren Fest!

All the patterns seen
on either side of this text
are patterns I’ve used to make
“Ren Costumes”!

If you have a bunch o’ patterns, look through them for SIMPLE
shirts, vests, blouses, skirts, trousers … whatever!

Peruse PIX o’ Ren Stuff Online
[Google “Renaissance Costumes”]
to get ideas of how you might use YOUR EXISTING PATTERNS
to make FANTABULOUS REN FEST GARB!

If you don’t have any patterns–or simply don’t want to use a pattern–
I’ve posted some SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS (links below)
for making things such as a Peasant Blouse (for the Mistresses)
and Tabards (for young Masters), without using a pattern.

IF you want to make
something that is OFFICIALLY

“Renaissance” in nature,
there are TONS o’
Renaissance Patterns
available through all the
major pattern companies:

Simplicity … Butterick
McCalls … Vogue …
You Name It!!!
