CHAS’ & SUSAN’S
EXCELLENT UK ADVENTURE
Day One …

Pix for Frank & Gloria!

Unfortunately, I didn’t take all that many pix o’ the Admiral Hotel! The text on this page (later) is from the page I posted on our Web Album.

I dearly hope you won’t be offended by the pix I took of the “view” out our windows! As I wrote in our Web Album, the view from where you SLEEP isn’t “important.” AND, I really did love the wine bottle and toilet plunger thing! (Just weird American humor, I guess.)

If, for SOME strange reason, you DO want to “SNAG” any of these pix to save to your computer (as I snagged some from your Web Site to “round out” our description of our London lodgings), here’s how you do it:

  1. Put your Mouse Pointer on the pic you want.

  2. Click on the pic, USING THE MOUSE BUTTON that you normally do NOT USE. (For me, it’s a RIGHT click.)

  3. A “Drop-Down” box of options will appear.

  4. Click on “Save Picture As” (or the like)

  5. Then, a box with Folder Options on your computer will open.
Select a “folder” for the pic to be saved to - - one that you can find again!
(You can change the NAME of the pic before saving it. That way, you’ll recognize it.)

  6. Then, click on SAVE.

That’s it!

Oops! Wait. Because of the “rollover” effect, you won’t be able to “snag” BOTH the pix that have the wine bottle & toilet plunger! I you want the “whole” pic, Email me! I’ll send it to you.

Here comes the stuff from our Web Album, that “relates” to the Admiral.

After a 7-hour intercontinental flight (thank Gawd for the personal computers at EACH seat, offering a wide selection of In-Flight MOVIES – ‘cause I sure couldn’t SLEEP!!!), we arrived at Gatwick Airport.

Thence, we took the “Gatwick Express” train to Victoria Station.

From there, we used the London “TUBE” (“underground” … “SUBWAY”) system to get to our London B&B. Unfortunately, this meant dragging our luggage up and down stairs – multiple times – as we changed from Tube Line to Tube Line, to finally get to our destination.

FUTURE TRAVEL NOTE:
Whether you fly into London’s Gatwick, Heathrow, or Stansted airports, there is a lovely Express Train that will take you (relatively cheaply) from each airport into London. USE IT.
But, when traveling with LUGGAGE in tow,
TAKE A TAXI from the place that the airport train
drops you off, to your London digs!!!!

The TUBE completely SUCKS when you have to drag
ANY amount of luggage along!!!
If you are traveling with 4 or more persons, it may actually be CHEAPER for you to take
a TAXI from the AIRPORT to your London digs (splitting the cost 4-ways).
With only two persons, however, it’s cheaper to take the train, THEN take a taxi.

Huffing and puffing,
we finally arrived at
The Admiral Hotel
– our London B&B.

It was a perfectly lovely B&B!

During the planning of our trip,
the Hostess, Gloria, had been
very helpful!

The Admiral was clean and very
WELL LOCATED … easy to
get to and from ALL the spots
in London’s City Center!

What is interesting: There are TONS
o’ B&B’s – like “row houses” –
all up and down both sides
of the street The Admiral was on.
(See photo ABOVE and at LEFT)

I suspect that there are
TONS MORE Streets,
FULL of B&B rowhouses,
ALL over London.

Basically, I don’t think you can
“go wrong” with any
of these B&Bs!

But, I KNOW you can’t “go wrong” at the Admiral!

Our Bedroom at the Admiral Hotel

The Admiral Hotel’s Dining room.

Like I said: clean, comfortable, well-located.
Our room even had a PRIVATE toilet/shower!
(Not all B&B’s offer that!)

Here’s the VIEW from one
of our room’s windows.

Here’s the VIEW from the
other of our room’s windows.

What a HOOT! Obviously, the view from where you CRASH (sleep) ain’t “important!”
But … What’s with the WINE BOTTLE and TOILET PLUNGER?!!!
(In the VIEW at right.) I was rather preoccupied with that conundrum! LOL!!!
Seems to me that there likely is a VERY INTERESTING story there!

THAT’S IT!

Although you likely won’t want the pix I took, you might consider including the “TAKE A TAXI” from where the airport express train drops people off information on your web site!

I hope you enjoyed our silly American Music CD. I really did want to show my appreciation of all your help during the planning of our trip! And, I couldn’t think of something else SMALL & American to bring with for you!

Thanx, again, for your hospitality!
CHAS & Susan!
