BIOGRAPHY

Apostrophe formed in a basement located in Plattsmouth, Nebraska during the Winter of 1998.   Founding members, Mick Mixan, Gregg Markus, Matt Baratta, Matt O'Day (original bassist), and Rob Matthews (keyboard, guitar & original lead vocalist) established an eclectic blend of Blues, Country, Reggae, Jazz, and Rock 'n' Roll.   The resulting Hard Rock style tapped into influences as diverse as AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, and Frank Zappa.   The band's namesake is credited to the latter's own popular album entitled Apostrophe (')

The band developed a modest performance & recording schedule, ultimately releasing its self-titled debut album in 2000 on BOW-LIT Recordings.   The quirky song Ham Sandwich has since been featured in the short film Canned Ham, by New York based film producer Diane L. Janowski

Following the departure of Matt O'Day & Rob Matthews in 2002, the remaining members holed-up in the studio, developing new material for the next 18 months.   During this time, Mick stepped up to become the band's official lead singer.   After auditioning several qualified candidates, Dan Peters, was selected as best man for the demanding job of playing bass guitar.   Today, the band spends time recording & performing live.
