11/18/07-UNO earned a split against the Ferris State Bulldogs this weekend. On Friday night, goaltender Jerad Kaufmann was pulled midway through the first period after Ferris State went up 3-1 in route to a 5-1 victory. On Sunday afternoon, the Mavs recorded their first shutout of the season 2-0. Senior goaltender Eric Aarnio started in his first game of the year and earned his first career shutout. Eric has seen little playing time over his career at UNO, but left the ice with chants of Aar-ni-o from the crowd at the end of the game. The Alaska Nanooks make the trip from Fairbanks, Alaska to Omaha over Thanksgiving weekend to finish the four game home stand for UNO.

11/12/07-Freshman Alain Goulet was named the CCHA Defenseman of the Week for his efforts in the Mavericks sweep over Ohio State. Goulet scored the first goal of Thursday's game while on the power play and later added an assist in a 5-2 victory. He added a second assist on Friday in another 5-2 win for the Mavericks. Alain finished +1 on the weekend. The sweep gave UNO their first conference points of the season going 0-4 against highly ranked Miami and Michigan. UNO returns home next week for a Friday and Sunday series against Ferris State to start off a four game homestand. Thanksgiving weekend the Alaska Nanooks will visit Omaha before UNO hits the road again for a series in South Bend, Indiana against Notre Dame.
11/12/07 CCHA Players of the Week

10/21/07-The UNO Mavericks opened the 2007-2008 season by winning their third Maverick Stampede title. UNO beat Manitoba 8-1 on Friday night and followed that with a 5-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville in the Championship game on Saturday. Senior forward Mick Lawrence, senior forward Bryan Marshall, sophomore goalie Jerad Kaufmann, and freshman defenseman Mike Phillippi were named to the All-Tournament team. Bryan Marshall with two goals and an assist each night was named the tounrament MVP. Friday's game against Manitoba will not count towards UNO seasons stats because it is considered a exhibition game. UNO stats CCHA play on the road next week at Oxford, Ohio to face the second ranked Miami Redhawks. UNO will travel home the next week to face the Michigan Wolverines at Qwest Center Omaha.

1/29/07-The UNO swept Northern Michigan this weekend and Scott Parse was recognized for his efforts in that sweep. The senior forward was named the CCHA Offensive Player of the week with a six point weekend. On Friday's 5-2 win Parse had three assists and on Saturday he added two goals and an assist. Parse is sitting just 11 points short of 200 career points (74-115-189) with eight games left in the regular season.

1/22/07-Freshman goaltender Jeremie Dupont was name this week's CCHA Rookie of the Week. Jeremie started in Friday's 3-1 win of Ferris State and came in relief on Saturday in a 6-3 loss. Jeremie had a .942 save percentage on the weekend stopping 49 of 53 shots.

12/10/06-Scott Parse became the all time leading goal scorer at UNO with two goals in the third period on Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks rolled in both games over Bentley winning 5-2 on Friday and 7-2 on Sunday. Parse added 3 assists for the weekend with a pair coming Friday night (2-3-5). The Mavs are now on a 5 game winning streak and in those games they have not given up more than two goals in a game. UNO heads into winter break with a 8-7-4 record overall and 5-6-1 in the CCHA. Up next for UNO is a trip to Princeton and Yale over New Years weekend. Next home game is January 12 against Bowling Green.

12/2/06-Senior forward Scott Parse moved back to defense this past Saturday at Bowling Green and responded with a hat trick and two assists. That effort earned him the CCHA Defensive Player of the Week. Parse had an assist on Friday night to go 3-3-6 on the weekend but played forward on Friday.
CCHA Players of the Week

12/2/06-After a rough November in which UNO went 1-6-2, the Mavericks recorded a sweep against Bowling Green and recorded two hat tricks. On Friday Bryan Marshall scored the first three goals of the game to recorded UNO's first ever natural hat trick and the Mavs went on to win 4-1. Tonight Scott Parse recorded a hat trick and two assists while Brent Kisio scored two goals as UNO rolled 7-1. UNO improved to 6-7-1 on the year and 5-6-1 in the CCHA. UNO now heads back home to face Bentley from Atlantic Hockey in a Friday and Sunday series.

10/30/06-Two Mavericks were selected for CCHA honors this week. Senior Scott Parse was selected as the offensive player of the week, while freshman goalie Jeremie Dupont was named the rookie player of the week. Scott Parse scored a goal and added two assists in each game this weekend for a 6 point series (2-4-6). Jeremie Dupont received his first career win Friday night as he came in relief of Jerad Kaufmann and recorded his first shutout on Saturday.
CCHA Players of the Week 10/30/06

10/29/06-The Mavericks opened their 2006-2007 CCHA season with a series against Western Michigan this weekend. UNO swept the series winning 7-5 Friday night and then won 6-0 Saturday night. Friday night UNO came back from and early deficit to get a game winning goal from Scott Parse mid-way through the third period. On Saturday night, freshman goalie Jeremie Dupont started his third career game for the Mavs and recorded his first shutout. UNO returns to the Qwest center next week to face off against Alaska in another CCHA series.

10/20/06-UNO rolled over Niagara in the first round of the Maverick Stampeded winning the game 10-1. The 10 goals for the Mavericks was the highest goal output for any previous game in UNO history. Brandon Scero added to the record night by scoring 4 goals which was the highest for any single player in one game in the Mavs history. Northern Michigan beat UMass-Lowell 2-1 in the first game of the day to advance to tomorrow nights championship game.

10/15/06-For the second night in a row, UNO came back from behind late in the game to force a tie. Scott Parse, who scored both goals for UNO, tied the game with less than three minutes left to send the it into overtime. After a scoreless overtime, where Alaska-Anchorage had two power plays, the game went to a shootout for the second straight night for the Mavs. This time the Mavericks lost the shootout 3-1 and Alaska-Anchorage went on the win the Nye Frontier Classic. The Mavs return home now to face Niagara in the Maverick Stampede on Friday.

10/13/06-The University of Nebraska-Omaha opened the 2006-2007 regular season with a 2-2 tie against Colorado College in Anchorage, Alaska. The Mavericks came back twice from a one goal deficit to force the game into overtime and eventually won the game in a shootout to determine a winner because of the tournament.. UNO will now take on Alaska-Anchorage tomorrow night for a chance to win the Nye Frontier Classic.

10/10/06-The University of Nebraska-Omaha Hockey team begins their tenth season tonight against the Manitoba Bison. Game is set for a 7:05 face-off at the Qwest Center Omaha. The game will also kick off the fourth season the Mavericks have played in the Qwest Center. UNO students get in free to the game with a valid UNO student id.
