CRYING
IN THE RAIN
A
gentle breeze waltzed in from the south
The
sun sought cover and hid betwixt the clouds
A
solitary eagle rapidly descended from the sky
The
earth was still, don't ask me why.
Quietly
the silence was broken by a hushed bleat
Against
the green hillside, beneath a blue sky by a white goat
The
wind hustled again and danced between the trees
The
chill of the fog was now felt in the breeze
Over
the rocks and boulders skipped the waters brown
Such
was its fury that it made the rock-face frown
With
the slope of the land it picked up force
The
spray would kiss you were you up so close
The
white of the clouds to grey did turn
The
valley looked up like a weather-beaten urn
The
water fell in hail-laden drops
It
dislodged the boulders and killed the crops
The
river in fury tossed and turned
The
core of the earth no longer burned
Roaring
and shrieking in the valley now pale
The
serenity of nature now a defiant gale
At
the base of the cliff where the river forked
Sat
a little girl in a sheltered cove
The water here was not in torment worked
For
its stillness would even surprise a dove
The
quiet water lapped gently at her feet
Nature's
wrath traversed not this beat
In
this torrid, pelting rain humanity wasn't near
To
see that her crying had made the river deeper by a tear.
