Foundational Anchors of L.E.D.
In teaching our children, we do not begin with knowledge. For, as we've learned from 1 Cor.8:1, "Knowledge puffs up." So knowledge must be anchored in order to avoid pride. There are 2 'anchors' listed in 2 Peter 1:5, to which knowledge must be secured: Faith and Virtue.
We must begin, as the Lord commands through Peter, with Faith. Romans 12:3 tells us that all men are given a measure of faith, but we can encourage the development of faith in our children's lives. The Word explains that faith can be weak or strong, fail or be kept, be denied or lived and walked by, can be dead or increase and overcome the world. Romans 10:17 is the key to faith in our children's (or our) lives: "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of Yahweh." This training should begin pre-birth. Start reading the Scriptures aloud to your children in the womb and continue throughout all their years in your home.
The instruction in 2 Peter is to
When these foundational anchors are strong, then the knowledge and everything else built on them will be secure. But we must continue to repair any breaches created in these foundational anchors, for a cracked foundation will surely lead to a great fall of everything built on them. We have but one foundation that will stand, and
its cornerstone is Y'shua ha Mashiach (Jesus the Messiah). The anchors in that foundation are Faith and Virtue. They are the Key to Discipleship. Before we can ever begin to teach our children knowledge, we must give them a foundation of Faith and Virtue.
