Additional training tips:

You must always be patient! This is the most important thing to remember!

I tried to follow the schedule in the book "Game Dog" as close as possible but some areas needed some more attention than others. I did see quite a few similarities in character between the dog in the book and Jaxx. The only thing I had a real problem with was Jaxx's chewing. Although chewing seems to be a character of Labs I still believe I could of did something different. I declined on following the books advice on putting hot sauce on my furniture. My wife would not have appreciated that.

Suggestion: buy or make several training dummies. That will help tremendously on training. especially on directional training. For instance, the training technique "base ball". I believe purchasing a dummy thrower could be a benefit to give you that ability to launch the dummy farther than you can through it by hand.

Don't get discouraged if you don't follow the schedule exactly. Every thing will come around. Jaxx is proof. He isn't a Grand Champion but he is a well behaved hunting dog and friend.

Don't expect your dog to be in perfect hunting shape or in the perfect hunting mind after the summer months unless you have been exercing him/her and reinforcing the training through out the summer.

I am not a expert by no means. I just thought I would share some of my experiences with you if you have any cool or helpful hints I would be glad to hear from you. Just press the guest book on the home page!
