my favorite driver is Rusty Wallace he drives
the # 2 Miller Lite car, here is a little
info about him.
The 1996 NASCAR season marked the 11th
straight year of winning races for Rusty. He
got started on the Midwestern short tracks.
As he moved on through the ranks of stock car
racing, he left race wins and championship
titles as his calling card.
In 1979 Rusty was the USAC stock Car
Rookie-of-the-Year, he also was the runner-up
in the points battle. From 1979-1982 he won
190 feature events on short tracks from
Florida to California.
In 1983 he won 8 races 4 pole positions and
completed an amazing 96.5 percent of the laps
in taking the ASA Championship.
In 1984 he moved up into NASCAR Winston Cup
Racing and he took the Rookie-of-the-Year
award. It was in 1986 that Rusty won his
first big-time race, he won at Bristols, TN
and he hasn't looked back since, he has won
at least one race ever since that season.
In 1989 he was the Winston Cup Champ and in
1991 he was the International Race of
Champions (IROC) champion. Going into his
third season as Rusty's crew chief is Robin
Pemberton.
Rusty had another DNF at the PENNSYLVANIA 500. His engine stopped running on him. He completed 174 laps.
In the BRICKYARD 400 his engine blew again. This gives him 9 DNF's for the season. The most he has had in a season was back in 1991 he had 10 DNF's then.
After starting 13th at the BUD AT THE GLEN he finished 3rd, he also led for 2 laps. He now is in 13th Place in the Point Standings.
At the GOODY'S 500 he finished in 12th place. In the MOUNTAIN DEW 500 Rusty made just 5 laps before an accident took him out of the race, this dropped him down to 14th in the Point Standings.
At the EXCIDE 400 Rusty's engine finally made it across the finish line, he came in 5th Place.
After starting in 33rd Place at the CMT 300 in Loudon, he was on the final lap in 10th place, when he got bumped by Hut Stricklin which made him hit the wall. He went on to finish the race in 21st place. He is in 13th place in Point Standings.
At the MBNA 400 he finished in 16th place.
At the HANES 500 Rusty led for 220 laps. He was leading the race on lap 478 when they Black Flagged him, they said he jumped the green flag.
