The Most Magical Adventure of All Time

Merlin, Nimue, and Mab

This is Merlin with his love, Lady Nimue and his enemy Mab. Doesn't our Sam look handsome here? I have to say this is my favorite Sam Neill movie. I absolutely love him in that long hair. This movie was aired on NBC in April of 1998 as a two part mini-series. It is available now on video tape in a shorter (140 min.) version. The long version was previously available on video so if you find it, see that one as a lot of beautiful stuff is not in the short version. Although... both versions have lots o' Sam!

Making Mab Disappear

Here, Merlin kills off Mab by turning from her and vowing to forget her and the old ways. Again, Sam looks so good here! Many fans "found" Sam Neill here and who can blame them? He has to be one of the most talented actors ever and that talent is surely showcased here. He also stars with an excellent supporting cast which includes: Miranda Richardson as Mab, Martin Short as Frik, Isabella Rossellini as Nimue and Helena Bonham-Carter as Morgan le Fay. The film also features John Gielgud, Rutger Hauer and the voice of James Earl Jones.

The End of Magic

Merlin is finally reunited with Nimue. They are both very old by this time and Merlin uses the last of his magic to make them young again. This is an exciting, touching, beautiful movie. It is a must see!

Sam Neill gives an incredible performance, letting us see a very complex Merlin with the emotions and faults of human being. I can't say enough about this spectacular film! If you are a Sam Neill fan and you have not seen this movie, see it now!
