William Henry was a gifted athlete as a young man. He played professional baseball for Bennington, Ne. He also was a professional boxer, once fighting the mid-west champion for the title. During the fight his nose was broken and he lost on a decision. He was a avid hunter and fisherman, taking trips to Canada to fish.
William Henry was one of the finest finish carpenters in the mid-west area, having worked on a number of buildings and homes in the Omaha area.
For all the positive things about him, he was a very bitter and hateful person. He refused to speak to his own daughter, Alice, for many years. When he decided to start speaking to her, he quit speaking to his grandson. Prior to his death he repented, it seems this was how he chose to channel his hatefulness.
William Henry and Grace Timperley Gottsch divorced in the mid 1950's. Neither chose to remarry. William Henry died in LeHigh Acres, Florida in 1989 after falling and breaking his hip.
