Coach Craig Christians is in his seventh year as head coach after twelve years as an assistant with the T-Bird harriers. He has been a competitive distance runner since 1976, his sophomore year at Willmar (Minnesota) High School. He is currently a member of Team Nebraska Brooks, a local running team. When away from coaching, he is employed as manager of the City of Omaha's Sewer Maintenance Division. He holds an MS in Municipal Engineering from Iowa State and completed his undergraduate study in Civil Engineering at South Dakota State (www.gojacks.com). His wife, Jan, has a surgery practice at Midlands Hospital (www.janetgrangemd.com). Christians has two daughters, Leah who was a 2009 graduate at West, and Lauren, a 2003 West graduate.
Assistant Coach Michelle Janovec joined the staff in 2008. She teaches the 3rd grade at Fort Crook Elementary School and was a Bellevue East and Nebraska Wesleyan graduate. Her husband, Kevin Brown, also serves as an assistant. All members of the T-Bird staff continue to train and race in local running events and run with the T-Bird harriers at practices.
