Re: Gerald Biby Grievance

I have received an appeal to the Chancellor by Gerald Biby concerning his grievance. Mr. Biby is employed by the Industrial Agricultural Products Center as a Technical Assistance Coordinator. On June 3 and 4, 1999, Mr. Biby's work area was entered by University employees to search for and make copies of various paper files and computer records that were to be presented to legal counsel as part of a discovery process relating to a legal action being taken against the University by an outside organization. Mr. Biby is requesting that the events of June 3 and 4 be reviewed in light of University policies, procedures and standards. Specifically, he is requesting relief in the form of written apologies, a letter to those who received copies of the materials taken from his of rice stating that some of these materials were improperly copied and should be treated as such, and that the police case file surrounding the events of June 3 and 4 be expunged. As required by University of Nebraska-Lincoln policy, I have convened a three-person grievance panel to review Mr. Biby's grievance. I have appointed the following panel members.
